Ahora en TIRRC podemos ayudar a las familias inmigrantes a preparar sus papeles para tramitar un divorcio de mutuo acuerdo. Sabemos que la falta de ayuda legal para la familia afecta a muchas personas; esto puede evitar que alguien arregle sus papeles si está en un matrimonio con diferente estatus legal, o impedir que haga planes para cuidar a sus hijos. Por eso, TIRRC ahora también le ayudará a tramitar divorcios de mutuo acuerdo y la carta de poder para el cuidado de sus hijos menores de edad.

TIRRC is now able to help immigrant families prepare documents in order to file for uncontested divorce.

Lack of access to family legal services is a widespread concern and can prevent a change of legal status to those in mixed status marriages or for those wishing to make plans for their children, so TIRRC will now offer help with both uncontested divorces and Power of Attorney for Care of Minor Child.

The Nashville Scene recently released their “Best of” highlights for this past year.

We are glad to see them highlight the release of Nashville Noticias reporter Estefany Rodríguez from ICE custody. Between TIRRC’s lawyers and organizers and her case organizer, we were happy to release and challenge her attest and detention on First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment grounds.

Additionally, we are glad to see Nashville Banner’s coverage on the 2025 ICE raids win Best Investigation in Nashville. This included video footage released thanks to TIRRC’s lawsuit requiring the release of THP’s public records.

Did you know that receiving a handwritten postcard increases a person’s chance of voting by 15%? Furthermore, receiving a postcard in a native language increases the chance of voting by 27%.

That is why, at Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition [TIRRC] and Conexion Americas, we are writing postcards to our neighbors and community members this election season.

As a volunteer at the event stated, “The higher voter turnout is, the more people’s votes will be heard.”

Early voting lasts from October 14th to 29th with Election Day occurring on Tuesday, November 3rd in Tennessee. This election puts Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and state legislative seats on the line. Showing up for them is how we protect our values and fight for the home we want to see.

TIRRC is aware of recent changes to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s rules regarding proof of immigration status eligibility for Tennessee licenses. We are also aware of reports that the DMV is no longer allowing some DACA recipients to renew their driver's license.

Together with local and national partners, we are investigating these changes as quickly as we can.

We won’t be able to provide individualized assistance to everyone affected, but please contact our resource line at 615-414-1030 to report your experience, especially if you have been unable to renew your license.

Spring Miller, our Senior Director of Legal Strategy at TIRRC, submits an op-ed to the Tennessean shining a light on the mass detention and deportation crisis impacting over 70,000 Tennessee children.

She urges those of us on the front lines of the crisis to shine a light on it and defend those who are most vulnerable and say “not in our name.”

“So while it is in my work as a lawyer that I have a front-row view to these stories, it is as a human and a mother that I am compelled to speak out. ICE must stop. Not in my name.”
