Riders like these are a familiar sight on our Collierville streets, often logging miles before most of us have our first cup of coffee.

When we see neighbors like this out on the road, it’s a great reminder of our shared goal:

• Riders: staying predictable and communicating through signals.
• Motorists: giving them the legal 3 feet of space and a little extra patience.

Mutual respect keeps Collierville moving safely. Whether you’re on two wheels or four, let’s keep looking out for our neighbors.

Community means looking out for everyone on the move. Just as our public works crews need space behind the cones to work safely, our neighbors on bicycles need a safety zone on the road.

In Tennessee, it’s not just a courtesy, it’s the law. When passing a person on a bicycle, motorists must maintain a distance of at least 3 feet.

Why 3 Feet?

• Bicyclists may need to move suddenly to avoid hazards like a pothole, a stray branch, or a patch of gravel.
• Large vehicles can create a "wind gust" when passing too closely, which can destabilize a rider.
• Sometimes a driver may underestimate the width of the vehicle, especially side mirrors which can get dangerously close or touch a cyclist.

What if you don't have 3 feet?

If you can’t safely give 3 feet of space, please wait for a clear opening to pass. A few minutes of patience ensures that everyone reaches their destination safely.

MPD had a shortage of officers due to the weather. We are working on an alternate date with them and will announce a rain date soon.

Dear Friends,

It’s been 52 great years. Outdoors, Inc. has been our life’s passion and our greatest joy has been sharing it with all of you. The best part has been outfitting amazing adventures and experiences for our customers, staff, neighbors and friends.

We have made the difficult decision to close Outdoors, Inc.

For over half a century we have treasured the loyalty of our amazing customers, our dedicated staff, our vendors, and our Memphis community and beyond. With our whole hearts we appreciate each and every one of you. We are truly grateful to you for putting your trust in us to provide you with quality gear.

On Monday, May 18, we will begin our going out of business sale. Bike shop sale will start on Tuesday, May 19. Most merchandise will be on sale 25- 60% off. Boats, bikes, and electronics will be priced individually. Bike maintenance and a few specific items will not be discounted. All sales will be final. Sale excludes any prior purchases. Thank you for camping, hiking, cycling, paddling, climbing, skiing and traveling the world with us. Your kindness, support and friendships over the past 52 years have meant the world to us. We are honored to have been a part of all of these experiences with you.

We hope that you will come by - not just for the deals - but to share stories and to be a part of saying goodbye to 52 years of outfitting human powered recreation in Memphis and beyond.
