In 2026, MIFA Meals on Wheels marks 50 years of serving our community’s seniors. For half a century, dedicated volunteers and drivers have delivered more than 26 million meals, bringing not only nutrition but also compassion and connection to vulnerable older adults.

This milestone, which represents an extraordinary legacy of service and care, marks decades of helping seniors age with independence and dignity in their own homes. We are deeply grateful to the Aging Commission of the Mid-South for their partnership and support since the very beginning, standing with us every step of the way. As we celebrate this golden anniversary, our commitment to serving seniors remains as strong as ever.

We’re excited to introduce something new at MIFA this year: Honoring the faith communities whose financial commitment helps keep our work steady, even in uncertain times.

We’re grateful to our founding Steady Hands whom we’ve had the joy of recognizing so far: White Station Baptist, Temple Israel (Memphis), St John Orthodox Church, Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, Collierville, TN, Germantown Presbyterian Church, and Balmoral Presbyterian Church.

Our Inter-Faith Officer Sandra Summers is looking forward to building relationships with current and future faith partners as we grow this movement to come together across traditions to support seniors and families in crisis.

We are excited to announce that Dorcas Griffin has been named MIFA's next President & CEO.

A lifelong Memphian, Dorcas brings decades of proven leadership, currently as Shelby County Government's Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and previously as Director of Shelby County's Division of Community Services.

We look forward to welcoming her to MIFA on August 3. Congratulations, Dorcas! 💚

From this 1985 snapshot to today, our understanding of inter-faith has grown, but our commitment remains the same: bringing people together across difference to build connection and inspire new possibilities.

Faith is how we make meaning of the world around us, and May 1 holds many meanings. For some, it's May Day — a celebration of spring and new life. For others, Beltane — a sacred turning toward connection and abundance. For more still, International Workers' Day — honoring the dignity and power of workers.

At MIFA, we believe these meanings don't divide us; they unite us. Across traditions, we're all seeking connection, purpose, and a more compassionate world. Thank you to our amazing community for all the ways you make meaning with us!
