We are honored to celebrate our newest Steady Hands partner, the India Cultural Center and Temple (pictures from their beautiful campus!).
Throughout October, many of our Hindu neighbors will celebrate Sharada Navaratri, nine nights honoring the Goddess Durga in nine forms. It culminates on October 20 with Dasara, a celebration of good overcoming evil. The name is often explained as "removing ten evils," a time to set down what holds us back and begin again. Regardless of our tradition, many of us know that longing.
A beautiful tradition marks the season: in many families, little ones are guided to trace their first letters in a tray of rice on Dasara, a blessing on a lifetime of learning. And around Dasara, families give thanks for the tools, books, and instruments that sustain their daily work.
