Memphis Medical District Collaborative

Working with our partners to make the Medical District more vibrant, prosperous, and equitable. We are involved in over 20 initiatives in the District.

MMDC is a community development organization working with anchor institutions to strengthen the connections, communities, and campuses in the Memphis Medical District so they are more vibrant, prosperous, and equitable. With over 24,000 employees and students and more than 10,000 residents, the Memphis Medical District is poised for growth, expansion, and opportunity. Located between Downtown and

Midtown Memphis, the Medical District is in the process of transformation and forging an identity of its own. The District is home to large medical and educational institutions, including several prominent hospitals and colleges. Also within the District borders are historic and unique neighborhoods including the Pinch District, Uptown, Peabody-Vance, the Edge, Victorian Village, and Madison Heights. MMDC's programs and incentives work to strengthen the neighborhoods in the District to make the area more livable, vibrant, and safe. Our projects are shaped by collaboration with anchors, community stakeholders, and our funding partners. An effort of this magnitude would not be successful without the collective support, active engagement, and coordinated collaboration of the District's major anchor institutions. The Anchor Institutions collectively represent over 16,000 employees, 8,000 students, 250 acres of property, and have $2.7 billion in operating budget. MMDC's Anchor Institutions include ALSAC/St. Jude, Baptist College of Health Sciences, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Regional One Health, Southern College of Optometry, and Southwest Tennessee Community College.

Build Your Own Table: Contracts & Conversations

We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for Build Your Own Table: Contracts & Conversations, led by Dr. Daphnie Swift, Esq., MBA, Founder of Haute Boss Business Academy LLC.

This 10-week cohort is designed to help entrepreneurs and small business owners gain the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to successfully navigate government and procurement contracting opportunities.

Participants will:
✔️ Learn the fundamentals of government contracting
✔️ Develop strategies to grow and scale their businesses
✔️ Build meaningful connections with fellow entrepreneurs
✔️ Prepare their businesses to compete for contracting opportunities
