was an entire vibe this morning as the Memphis in May International Festival Great American River Run welcomed thousands of runners to run the river with us for this iconic Memphis Memorial Day weekend race tradition. Runners were all smiles as they pounded the pavement of our beautiful downtown taking in some of Memphis’ historic landmarks along the 5k, 10k and half marathon route!

Who is cutting onions 🧅 😭?! When these sweet girls saw their dad trying to make it to the finish line of the Great American River Run, they ran to him and helped him 💪🏾 !

🌧️🏃‍♂️ The safety of our runners, volunteers, vendors, and spectators remains our top priority as we prepare for the 2026 Great American River Run Saturday, May 23rd.

The race is rain or shine! Our team is actively monitoring the weather forecast and staying in close communication with local emergency management and meteorological partners. The only reason for a delay or for the race to go virtual would be lightening or an extreme weather event (tornado, etc.). At this time, none of the above are being forecasted for Saturday morning during race time.

All participants are encouraged to stay weather aware and continue checking official Great American River Run and Memphis in May International Festival social media channels for updates.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure a safe and successful race experience for everyone. We are excited and ready to run through the streets of downtown Memphis for the 11th annual Great American River Run! See you at the starting line!🏅⚡
