The main theme for World AIDS Day 2025 is “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.” Here in Memphis, TN (Shelby County), we need to embrace this message and work to transform the narrative in our own city. The Memphis area continues to be reported as having one of the highest rates of new HIV infections in the United States, ranking second behind Miami, Florida. New cases have been increasing since 2020, particularly among young adults and adolescents, whose rates are five times higher than the national average.
