This October we are reminded of why we are a Foundation. Why we do what we do. Our event is fun and has an important element of celebration to it. Yet, there exists the dark side of our event. The funds that are raised go to victims of Domestic Violence in our valley. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Here are just a few statistics to note:

1. Although anyone can be a victim of domestic violence, women are disproportionally affected.
2. More than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men in the U.S. experience contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime
3. According to the latest NISVS data, women are more likely to experience at least one IPV-related impact in their lifetime, such as being physically injured, missing work or school, being concerned for their safety, needing medical care, or filing a police report.

We want to say "thank you" to all the sponsors, donors, guests, and volunteers. This event has raised almost $5 million to date for these victims in our valley. The stories we have heard from the victims, we know this has made a big difference in their lives. Again, "thank you". 💜💜💜

We did it!!! Our goal was to raise enough this year to reach $5 million in grants awarded, to date, in our local Southern Oregon community.

One different twist this year was to implement the Community & Legacy Paddle Raise. Even before the event occurred, we raised over $7k towards funds for the Dunn House, the local 24/7 shelter for victims fleeing domestic violence. This was a combination of individuals, businesses, and our past Legacy Board members contributing between $250/$500 each. What a difference can be made by a community coming together for the good!

We held our 33rd Annual Hearts & Vines Dinner and Auction at the beautiful and historic Hillcrest House on Saturday, the 14th! It was a glorious evening (despite being a bit chilly later in the evening)🥶. The pictures from the event will be coming soon from the beautiful work of but we wanted to show some of the photos behind the scenes.

It takes many hands to bring the event together. One of the reasons this event is a success is because of the unsung heroes of the volunteers! Thank you to our community partners for bringing the "muscle", CASA, CAC, and the photo is of the ladies of putting up our Step-and-Repeat. It was quite amusing and validating that it is not an easy task! 😆

We also got the most adorable and hardworking young men of the North Medford Basketball 🏀 team to be our parking attendants. They did an amazing job and no accidents occurred. 😉

And our registration crew nailed it! Thank you to First Interstate Bank and Highstreet Insurance for "loaning" your people!

It is amazing what a community can do! This year our Board created a new way to be involved and to give back. Presenting the "Community Paddle Raise"! For $250 you and/or your business will be recognized at our event and as a collective, thousands raised! 100% of these proceeds go to the Dunn House, our local 24/7 shelter for victims fleeing domestic violence.
