Today marked the final club activities for the 2025-2026 school year with an amazing wrap up assembly with the Phoenix High School Pirates! Students gathered in the gym, wearing pink for their Sparrow Katy, and celebrated another fantastic club. Not only did the Pirates smash the community service challenge by serving 1,034 hours, they also spent the school year making a 17-year-old girl feel seen and cared for. Katy suffered a stroke in 2025 and was given a grim prognosis that she may never walk, speak, or be the girl she once was. Miracle after miracle Katy has proven those words wrong and continues to reclaim her life each day. Her journey, along with the hope and courage of her amazing family, deeply inspired the students of PHS. Throughout the school year, students organized a staff vs student basketball game, hosted the 3rd Annual Sparrow Talent show, hosted a Phoenix yard sale event, created connection with Katy, and poured love into this project. We are so proud of these young people. Way to go Pirates! Katy, I know you heard, but remember— once a Pirate, always a Pirate!
