Roosevelt Elementary Afterschool: Students made their own spider and monster lollipops using pipe cleaners, googly eyes and, of course, lollipops!

For our social-emotional learning activity, we read "The Bad Seed" by Jory John, a story about a seed who believes he is bad but begins to change his outlook and choose happiness. Students followed up with a craft inspired by the book’s message about personal growth, positive choices and the ability to change.

Oak Grove Elementary Afterschool: Delicious treats and meaningful activities! Students made a fall harvest trail mix with seasonal goodies.

During social-emotional learning, we read "The Bad Seed" by Jory John and followed up with an “I Will Grow” sunflower craft. Students wrote positive traits and goals on each petal, reflecting on ways they can grow, make positive choices and become the best versions of themselves.

To end the week on a sweet note, students made a delicious candy corn cream soda!

Kids Unlimited is saddened by news of the passing of Dolores Huerta, a pioneer of civil rights and hero to so many.

We were grateful to have met her in 2018, when she spent two days visiting our charter school and sharing her story. Most importantly, she shared her kindness with all of our children.

Her loss will be mourned, but her impact for lifting the spirit of humanity and representing kindness will be celebrated forever.

10/28/2026

Kennedy Elementary Afterschool: We continued celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with activities inspired by Hispanic and Latino cultures! Students enjoyed playing traditional outdoor games, including “El Gato y el Ratón” and “Mar y Tierra.”

Students also got creative by making vejigante masks inspired by Puerto Rican culture. During our reading activity, we read "Silly Billy" and made our own worry dolls, giving students a chance to explore ways to manage worries.

10/28/2026

Griffin Creek Elementary Afterschool: Hispanic Heritage Club made their own balero ball-in-a-cup games, while Halloween Craft Club got into the spooky spirit by creating pipe cleaner pumpkins and ghosts!

For art enrichment, students explored different art techniques by trying paper plate basket weaving and Amate bark painting in recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. During STEM enrichment, students created monster lava lamps and explored a fun, hands-on science activity.

10/27/2026

Howard Elementary Afterschool: Students are working on their homework, building good study habits and staying on top of their schoolwork.

For Indigenous Peoples’ Day, students created dreamcatchers as part of a cultural enrichment activity.

During our social-emotional learning activity, students created flowers while exploring emotions and expressing themselves.

10/27/2026

Jackson Elementary Afterschool: We got into the spooky season making colorful spider webs using white crayons and watercolors.

Slime Club made “blood slime” using red food coloring, and the students loved it!

Arts & Crafts Club mixed shaving cream with glue to make puff paint, which they used to create their own Halloween decorations.

Around the World Club learned about Italy and made their own mini pizzas!

10/23/2026

Wilson Elementary Afterschool: During Art Enrichment, students created beaded pumpkins, adding their own creativity to these festive fall projects.

Kids Unlimited also continued students' social-emotional learning by reading "The Color Monster," our book of the month. Students then completed a “create your own feelings monster” worksheet, using their imaginations to explore and express different emotions.
