Rogue Retreat We create opportunities for those experiencing homelessness to have hope.

Rogue Retreat meets homeless people as they are (many with addiction and/or mental health challenges) and provides creative and temporary housing for them: a place to call home. With community partners and Rogue Retreat’s Community Support Specialists, Rogue Retreat collectively wraps itself around program participants delivering supportive services to help them achieve their highest potential.

🏠 Community Volunteers, Big Impact!

Last weekend, we had an amazing turnout for The Little Roofing Volunteer Project at The Crossings!

Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, more than 20 roofs were repaired on our Pallet House and Mod Pod shelter units. With the rainy season approaching, the timing couldn’t be better. These repairs will help keep our guests sheltered and protected from the weather.

A huge shoutout to the members of the Central Point Stake Church of Jesus Christ youth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with all the other community volunteers who showed up ready to work. Your time, effort and willingness to help make a real difference for the people we serve is inspiring.

This is what community looks like! Neighbors coming together, rolling up their sleeves and helping make sure people have a safe, dry place to stay.

You all rock! 💙 Thank you for being part of the Rogue Retreat community.

🍲 Making the Most of Every Food Box!

Sometimes, having the ingredients is only half the battle. Knowing what to make with them can be a challenge!

That’s why our Hope Kitchen and Life Skills teams are teaming up to help our guests turn food box ingredients into satisfying meals. Hope Kitchen Manager Jeffrey Hunt has been visiting the weekly Life Skills classes taught on-site by our AmeriCorps members Happy Landers and Danielle Nicely to share practical cooking tips and ideas.

Their most recent class was held at The Crossings campground, and it was a great turnout! Guests were engaged, the atmosphere was fun, and the smells coming from the kitchen were delicious. 😋

These classes help participants make the most of the food they receive, reduce waste and build confidence in the kitchen. It’s a great example of how our workforce development and Life Skills programs can work together to provide useful skills for everyday life.

A big thank you to Jeffrey, Happy and Danielle for making this collaboration happen and helping our guests discover new ways to turn simple ingredients into a great meal! 💙

💙 A Heartfelt Thank You to Piece Makers!

We want to give a huge thank you to Judy and all the wonderful folks with Piece Makers at Rogue Valley Manor!

For a long time now, this amazing group has been helping keep our guests warm and comfortable by donating handmade quilts, beanies, gloves, bedding and other essentials. These thoughtful gifts mean so much to the people who receive them.

It takes a caring community to make a difference, and Piece Makers has been showing that kindness year after year. We are so grateful for Judy and everyone who gives their time and talents to help others.

Thank you for thinking of our guests and for being such a wonderful part of the Rogue Retreat community. You help make a difference in more ways than you know! 💙

💙 Staff Spotlight: Monique Holloway - A First Impression that Lasts...

“Nothing feels better and more refreshing than helping take someone's pain away for that slight five minutes.”

For Monique Holloway, helping people is about meeting them where they are, listening without judgment, and finding ways to make a difficult situation a little easier.

Responsible for all front office coordination, Monique is often the first person someone meets when they walk through our doors. From connecting people with resources to helping them navigate medical care and other complicated systems, she looks for ways to help people move forward.

Her passion for this work is rooted in her own experiences. Growing up in a small town with limited resources, Monique knows how hard it can be to find your way when support isn't always easy to access. Those experiences helped shape her desire to make that process a little easier for others.

And the impact goes both ways. Monique shared that hearing someone say, “Because of you, I want to live for tomorrow,” is something that really stays with her.

“That's my serotonin for the day,” she said, describing the feeling of helping someone connect with a resource or finally get the support they've been looking for.

What keeps her going is also the team around her. Monique appreciates working alongside people who bring their own life experiences to this work and genuinely want to make things better for others.

We're grateful for the compassion, persistence, and heart Monique brings to Rogue Retreat. Sometimes, a little help at the right moment can mean more than we realize. 💙

📚 Peermageddon Day 2!

Yesterday, our team wrapped up the second day of Peermageddon at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Organized by Addictions Recovery Center, this two-day event was filled with great speakers, meaningful conversations and opportunities to connect with others doing this important work.

We were grateful to hear from keynote speakers Dr. David Wiss and Tony Vezina, along with all of the other presenters who shared their experience and knowledge throughout the event.

The day also included a special presentation honoring Samantha Stephens as Peer of the Year, as well as all the other finalists. Congratulations Samantha and everyone who was chosen for the honor!🎉

And of course, they wrapped things up with some fun raffle prizes!

Peermageddon was a blast, and Rogue Retreat looks forward to participating again next year!

📚 Peermageddon Day 1!

Yesterday, our team spent the day at Southern Oregon University in Ashland for the 2nd Annual Peermageddon. It was a great opportunity to connect with others in the field, grow professionally and gain fresh perspective.

Ongoing training helps our staff stay prepared to meet our guests where they are and support them through the many challenges they face.

The day featured powerful keynote presentations from Dawn Cogliser and Ben Spence, along with many other valuable sessions and conversations throughout the day.

We’re grateful for opportunities like Peermageddon that strengthen our team and help us better serve the people who count on us.

A huge thank you to Dawn, Ben, all of the presenters, Addictions Recovery Center, Inc. and everyone who helped make Day 1 such a meaningful experience!

💜 Remember. Educate. Prevent.

Last weekend, Rogue Retreat had the privilege of participating in the 10th Annual Overdose Awareness Day, hosted by Max's Mission .

This event is a powerful reminder of how deeply overdose affects our community. In 2023, more than 100 people in Jackson County lost their lives to fatal overdoses, with many of those deaths involving fentanyl.

But this event was about more than statistics. We heard truly inspirational stories from people who have survived an overdose and from family members and friends who have experienced the devastating loss of someone they love.

There was also plenty of community, connection and even some fun. Live music, co****le, amazing lowrider cars and local motorcyclists riding for the cause all helped bring people together around an important message.

A huge thank you to Max's Mission for organizing such a meaningful and impactful event for our community and for the lifesaving work you do throughout Southern Oregon.

And of course, our very own Hope Kitchen catered the event! The food was delicious and our team was proud to be part of the day. 💙

Thank you to everyone who came out, shared their stories, remembered loved ones and continues working to save lives.

💙 A Look at the Impact We Made in August!

Eight people were reunited with their families.

That’s eight stories of healing, growth, and second chances. Eight moments made possible because people had a place to stay, people to support them, and a community willing to believe in what comes next.

And those reunifications were just part of the progress made in August.

🏠 8 participants moved into permanent, stable housing
💼 3 people found full-time employment outside of Rogue Retreat
❤️ 6 people entered inpatient treatment
🩺 8 established primary care
🎓 2 enrolled in college
🚗 2 earned their driver’s licenses
📚 10 completed Life Skills training
💰 4 paid off debts

Every number represents a person taking another step forward.

At Rogue Retreat, we know that lasting change doesn’t happen overnight. It happens one step at a time, with support, opportunity, and a community that keeps believing in people as they work toward a better future.
