🛍️ Thank You, Fred Meyer, for an Amazing Back-to-School Shopping Spree! 🎒❤️
We are so incredibly thankful to Fred Meyer for their generous Back-to-School Shopping Spree, which gave 14 local kids $150 each to shop for new clothes and shoes!
A special thank you to Marc Clausen, Store Manager of South Medford Fred Meyer, for helping make this day possible. We are so grateful for the way Fred Meyer continues to show up for our community!
Each child got to shop with a Salvation Army staff member or volunteer, and it was so much fun watching them pick out things they actually liked and wanted. But honestly, this day turned out to be about so much more than clothes and shoes.
One mom asked, “How did we get chosen for this?” Major Jonnette Mulch answered, “God chose you.” ❤️
One of the teens shared that their family had been struggling and said, “This is such a big gift to us, thank you. This helps our family so much.”
Another mom talked about how she has been working on building her daughter’s independence, and how meaningful it was for her to be able to go shopping, make her own choices, and learn how to manage her money.
And one teen said something that really made us smile. While checking out, he noticed how the sales and discounts were helping him get more for his money. He said, “This is really cool...as I get older and start shopping for myself, I will know more about how to do this!”
He was under budget, so he got to go back and find another $20 worth of clothes! 🙌
That’s what made this day so special. These kids got to practice making choices, stretching their money, and becoming a little more independent—but they also got to experience something just as important...
..KNOWING THAT PEOPLE IN THEIR COMMUNITY CARE ABOUT THEM.
What a gift to send them into a new school year feeling confident, cared for, and excited about what’s ahead. ❤️
