Position: Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator
Pay: ANNUAL WAGE → $55,0000
HOURLY WAGE → $30.22/hr for 35 hours/week
SIGNING BONUS → $1,500 awarded immediately, contingent on 6 months of service

Our Mission: Stabbin’ Wagon exists to provide harm reduction (safer use) supplies to people who use drugs, predominantly the unhoused population in Jackson County and rural southern Oregon. We also strive to provide narcan/naloxone, overdose prevention & education plus HIV & HVC rapid home testing.
Job Description:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of Volunteers for Stabbin Wagon events, daily operations, and kit-making. Through outreach at in-person and virtual events, coordination with partner agencies, and liaising with unhoused friends and people who use drugs, particularly people who inject drugs, the Volunteer Coordinator will build and maintain a pool of volunteers to support harm reduction work. By engaging with the community, the Volunteer Coordinator will deepen Stabbin Wagon’s connection to Jackson County, and provide opportunities for community engagement in harm reduction efforts including: overdose response training, engagement of local government and law enforcement in support of harm reduction advocacy efforts, participation in local Pride events, college fairs, mutual aid groups, Opioid Overdose Awareness Day, community trainings, and other topical issues and events in harm reduction.
Funding:
This position is grant funded by Measure 110 funds, which are guaranteed through July 31, 2025. Stabbin’ Wagon has reapplied for funds, and hope to continue funding the position; however, grant-awarded funds are not guaranteed.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience advocating for people, community care, and mutual aid preferred
Respect for diversity, social and racial equity, and have the language and behaviors reflecting such values
Willingness to work in a team that focuses on collaboration and non-hierarchical decision making
Familiarity with de-stigmatizing language and understanding of the impacts of trauma
Demonstrated sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural awareness
Ability to manage time and be self-directed in a fast-paced environment
Basic computer literacy preferred
Ability to drive, and a current driver’s license
This role is subject to a criminal background check
Specific Responsibilities:
With the assistance of Stabbin Wagon staff, the Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator sets the programmatic vision for the organization
Curate and complete quarterly updates for the Stabbin’ Wagon Board of Directors in collaboration with the Stabbin’ Wagon Team
Recruit and attend volunteers for Friday and Saturday nights outreach and other planned community events
Design and launch Social Media campaigns
Direct volunteers and assist in social media, kit-making, service support, and other volunteer responsibilities as needed
Attend and assist in outreach and community events
Attend all-staff meetings, organizational meetings, meetings with partners (such as the BHRN, Max’s Mission, mutual aid groups) as needed
Manage and be responsible for the Stabbin’ Wagon Van
Serve as the first point of contact for anyone interested in volunteering
Train new volunteers in Stabbin’ Wagon policies and procedures
Find speaking opportunities for Stabbin’ Wagon to engage the community on harm reduction topics
Coordinate drop-off and pick-up of supplies from local volunteers
Keep track of volunteer stipends and follow instructions put forth by Stabbin’ Wagon administrative staff
Track daily activities of volunteers
