Happy Boss's Day to our Executive Director and co-founder, Cassidi!

Cassidi's leadership, as well as her strong, dedicated, and personal commitment to our mission and vision, have shown miraculously through the past eight years of our existence. She exhibits professional expertise, compassion, and ambition with everything she does, and is a friend to all who support individuals with developmental disabilities in leading inclusive, meaningful, and empowered lives.

We would not be anywhere near where we are today without her incredible efforts, pristine leadership skills, and genuine kindness and compassion for others. We are so fortunate to have you in our corner, Cassidi. We look forward to this weekend, where you and our program leadership will showcase our organization at our What's Next Workshop resource fair! Employment doesn't start on day one of a job. It starts years earlier, with planning.

Our Watch Me Thrive program helps young adults and their families prepare for life after school-based services — including the transition into the workforce.

Through career exploration, work-based learning experiences, and hands-on skill-building, participants start developing employment readiness long before they apply for their first job.

And families aren't left to figure it out alone. Our parent mentoring track has supported 58 families in building a tactical plan for what comes next.

NDEAM is about the jobs people hold today. Watch Me Thrive is about the jobs they'll be ready for tomorrow.

Through Supported Employment, Summit Future Foundation has helped:

Getting a job is one thing. Building a career is another.

Our Supported Employment program helps youth and young adults with developmental disabilities do both — through:
🔵 Exploring career paths that match personal goals and interests
🔵 Connecting with local employers who offer real opportunities
🔵 Support through the application and onboarding process
🔵 On-the-job training in the specific skills each role requires
🔵 Ongoing follow-along support to help careers last

This isn't a program that finds someone a job and walks away. It's a partnership that lasts as long as it's needed.

Latrice went to go check out the and Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center a couple weeks ago! She learned so many things about both our local environment and the different environments and ecosystems across the world.

Knowing more about your environment and being a good steward to the earth are two of the many ways you can help keep a healthier, stronger community. Kudos to Latrice for engaging her community and learning more about how to be a good friend to the earth and those we share it with!

🎙️ SFF on Candace’s Corner | Celebrating NDEAM

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) — a time to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and continue advancing access to meaningful, competitive employment.

Summit Future Foundation Executive Director Cassidi Jobe recently joined Candace Cunningham on Candace’s Corner for a conversation about a topic at the heart of our mission: employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.

For SFF, employment is about more than a paycheck. It’s about choice, purpose, belonging, independence, and having the opportunity to contribute your talents in your community.

Throughout NDEAM, we’re proud to join advocates, employers, families, and people with disabilities in reinforcing a message we believe year-round:

Let's be clear about why inclusive hiring matters.

People with disabilities shouldn't be hired out of charity or to check a box.

They should be hired for the same reason anyone is hired: because they have the skills, the work ethic, and the talent to do the job well.

That's the heart of this year's NDEAM theme — Celebrating Value and Talent.

At Summit Future Foundation, we see this every day in the young adults we support: real skills, real ambition, and real contributions waiting for the right opportunity.

Value and talent aren't things people with disabilities have to prove. Employers have to recognize them.

People with disabilities want to work. The data shows they're too often shut out of the chance.

In 2025, only 38.1% of working-age people with disabilities were employed — compared to 74.8% of working-age people without disabilities.

The unemployment rate for people with disabilities was 8.3% — roughly double the rate for people without disabilities (4.1%).

For people with intellectual and developmental disabilities specifically, the gap is even wider: only 16% work in competitive, integrated jobs nationally.

These aren't numbers about ability. They're numbers about access.

That's the gap Summit Future Foundation works to close, every day, through Supported Employment.
