A new report from the American Leadership & Policy Foundation (ALPF) warns of the critical threat posed by global water scarcity. The report examines the multifaceted impacts of water scarcity, explores the legal and political ramifications of designating water as a global commons, and analyzes emerging technological and policy solutions.

"Water is the lifeblood of our planet, yet it is under increasing threat from over-extraction, pollution, and climate change," said Dr. Tony Contento, Director of Research for the American Leadership and Policy Foundation. "This report provides a sobering assessment of the challenges we face and outlines a path forward for sustainable water management."

Key Findings:

- Over half of the world's population currently lives under water-stressed conditions.

- Groundwater aquifers are being depleted at alarming rates.
Water scarcity threatens food security, economic stability, and global peace.

- Traditional approaches to water management are failing to address the crisis.

Call to Action:

- Invest in innovative water technologies: Support research and development of technologies like atmospheric water generators and advanced water treatment systems.

- Promote sustainable agricultural practices: Encourage water-efficient farming methods, such as drip irrigation and precision agriculture.

- Reform water governance: Develop new legal and policy frameworks that prioritize sustainable water management and address the needs of all stakeholders.

- Empower local communities: Engage local communities in water management decisions and support community-based solutions.

The ALPF and our nation have suffered a great loss this past week with the passing of Dr. Dean Dohrman - ALPF President; former Missouri State Representative; mentor; friend; and, to his family, son, brother, and father. We grieve this loss together with his family and offer our deepest condolences to them in this challenging time.

Dr. Dohrman was a voice of reason and a guiding light for not just the people of Missouri, but for our great nation. He was with the ALPF from its inception as not only the foundation's only member who was an elected official, but also as a more seasoned member who provided invaluable insight, wisdom and guidance. His passion was not for a political party or position, but for truth and the preservation of America and all that it means - freedom, justice and hope. As busy as he was leading Missouri’s 51st District, teaching at various schools and serving as a board member for numerous non-profits and other organizations, he made time to create the "Democracy Toolkit," which remains on the ALPF website as a testament to his burden for all Americans to understand, embrace and champion the amazing legacy left to us by the Founding Fathers.

Dr. Dohrman's legacy will also live on in our hearts, in our foundation, and in the Tree of Liberty that flourishes stronger today because of what Dr. Dohrman did to water it and preserve it for generations to come.

Visitation services will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow, on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, 3510 W. 16th St., Sedalia, Missouri.

Jude Blanchette nails it here. Americans must demand their government strengthen our defense, speak coherently and honestly about threats, and do whatever is necessary to ensure we have a credible deterrence. It is past time for America to stop fighting with ourselves and be ready for the fight that's coming.

This commentary argues that conflicting statements by top U.S. military and defense leaders about the imminence of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan risk undermining the strength of U.S. deterrence vis-à-vis Beijing.

In 2015, ALPF's founder and chairman wrote this blue paper as a wake up call that something trending in the news right now could be used as a novel platform to deal a knockout blow to the U.S. Hopefully more of the people who are charged with our Nation's defense are waking up to what is rising in the East.

Through global reach and global power, we have the ability to hold the interests of any adversary in the world at risk within minutes. But, there is one vulnerability that threatens to significantly degrade our ability to not only project power abroad, but protect our own homeland – electromagnetic pulse.

Over the past few years, the American Leadership and Policy Foundation has produced objective, vetted research that exposes the vulnerabilities of the United States’ power grid and, more specifically, the nuclear power grid and associated generation facilities. While the threats of EMP caused by a high-altitude nuclear detonation or the similar force of massive geomagnetic disturbance event are neither novel nor probable, they represent a real existential threat that could render useless all means of offensive and defensive actions in all domains of Air Force operations.

Now, comes another revealing advancement sharing the risks to our nation's power grid--the brand-new documentary, "Grid Down, Power Up" from producer and director, David Tice. Understanding the dire situation facing our power grid and the potential consequences of sitting idly by are never more apparent.

The time to act--is now. Learn. Get involved. Make a difference.
