🌈 Happy Pride Month from Head for the Cure!

A brain tumor diagnosis can affect anyone. As we work to inspire hope, advance treatment, and build a future free from brain cancer, we remain committed to fostering a community where every person feels seen, valued, and supported.

This Pride Month and throughout the year, we stand with LGBTQ+ patients, survivors, caregivers, families, and advocates. Together, we can defeat brain cancer step by step!

We are proud to feature Erin Gaffney, a Head for the Cure Ambassador, as she shares her oligodendroglioma diagnosis and treatment journey—from the day she was diagnosed to undergoing a nine-hour partially awake craniotomy.

“They came back to me with a diagnosis that I had a brain tumor and that it was most likely cancerous. I knew that I needed to focus, one treatment step at a time, and the first step was surgery,” Erin shares.

Today, U.S. Representatives have called on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to provide information on the recent decision to cease federal funding for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), one of the nation’s most critical pediatric brain cancer research networks.

At Head for the Cure, we stand with the families, physicians, researchers, and advocates demanding answers and continued investment in lifesaving pediatric brain tumor research. Pediatric brain tumors remain the leading cause of cancer-related death among children, and disrupting critical clinical trials and research collaboration puts progress and hope at risk for countless families.

We are grateful to Representatives Representative Sharice Davids (D-KS) and Emanuel Cleaver II (D-MO) for their leadership and advocacy to protect innovative research efforts that children with brain tumors desperately need.
