TWA Museum Hosts “A Beautiful Place”

The feature documentary film "A Beautiful Place" had its premier at the TWA Museum on June 5th & 6th to sold-out audiences. On February 19th, 1955, TWA Flight 260 departed from Albuquerque Airport with 16 people on board en route to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Shortly afterwards, the plane crashed into the Sandia Mountains, killing all three KC-based crew members and thirteen passengers. The documentary feature film from Heartland Film Productions explores the emotional journey and stages of navigating tragedies such as this, largely through the experience of Dr. Ginny Campbell (pictured at the check in table) who lost her father and two grandparents on the flight. Don Lueke, TWA Board Member, was also featured in the film after the loss of his father in 1959 on TWA Flight 891 near Northern Italy and the loss of his granddaughter Becca in 2013.

Director Sue Vicory, is pictured with the "A Beautiful Place" autographed poster. All proceeds benefited the TWA Museum.

FIFA World Cup 2026™

Due to the FIFA World Cup 2026™, from June 13 through July 19, there will be "rolling closures" of the MKC airport at certain times in order to accommodate team movements and dignitaries. During these airport closures, only authorized personnel will be allowed to access the airport. Thus, our visitors/guests may not be able to access our museum on certain dates/times unless you have prearranged a group tour (10 or more guests) and/or have a scheduled event at the museum.

You may call the museum at 816-234-1011 to confirm our operating hours and any upcoming closures that we have been informed of.

We realize that these closures are not only an inconvenience to you, but that it also financially impacts our museum. We appreciate your patience!

Because of Jack Frye, this historical aircraft came to fruition - several DC-3 aircraft still flying today!
