For 17 years, Taste of Riverside has brought our community together around food, family, and support for REC students.🌟

With homemade dishes prepared by REC families, food served by students, and a room full of people who care about our mission, this event has always been about so much more than fundraising. It is about community, connection, and celebrating the people who make REC special.

🏆Taste of Riverside has been nominated for Best Local Fundraising Event in Best of the West, and we would be so grateful for your vote!

⏰Voting ends June 15! Vote here: https://www.gjsentinel.com/bestofthewest/ #//

A library stop along our REC summer adventures because a good book just hits different in the summer.📚Between field trips, swimming, and all the summer fun, there’s something special about slowing down with a book, sharing stories with friends, and seeing where your imagination takes you. Maybe it’s learning about animals, traveling to faraway places, meeting new characters, or getting lost in a brand-new adventure.

Summer reading keeps the learning going in the best way.☀️ Mesa County Libraries

A good cup of coffee and a sweet morning with our friends at Timberline Bank!☕💚 A few of our high school students and site managers spent the morning at the Community Coffee Bar, helping make coffee, meeting community members, and getting a behind-the-scenes tour afterward.

Our students got to try something new, get out in the community, and have fun. We’re grateful to be Timberline’s June Nonprofit of the Month and part of Community & Coffee.

Stop by this month, grab a coffee, and support REC while you’re there! Also… the Snickerdoodle Latte is very much REC-approved.

Happy World Bicycle Day!🚲 Biking has been part of REC from the very beginning. It was one of our original enrichment activities, and all these years later, it is still one of our students’ favorite ways to get outside, build confidence, and have fun.

This year, biking also brought Taylor students and their Palisade Pen Pals together in a special way. After spending the school year reading, writing, and working on math together, they ended the year with a biking trip full of fresh air, fun, and connection.

We are also so grateful for the amazing volunteers who help keep our bikes repaired, safe, and ready for students to ride: Thomas McCloskey, Evan Johnson, Tod Hegstrom, Scott Drosos, and Brent Starnes. Thank you for helping make this part of REC possible!

From old photos in REC’s early days to current biking adventures, we love seeing this tradition keep rolling. 🚲✨

Reminder: The Business Incubator Center’s 40th Anniversary Kick-Off is tomorrow! 🎉

We’re grateful for the way BIC supports local businesses, nonprofits, and community ideas, including welcoming REC into their Commercial Kitchen to prepare our REC salsa, El Abuelo! 🍅

Celebrate with BIC tomorrow at Ramblebine Brewing Company from 4–10 PM, with a toast at 5:00 PM.🥂

Join us as we celebrate 40 years of impact, entrepreneurship, and economic transformation on the Western Slope.

On June 4, 2026, the Business Incubator Center will officially kick off its 40th Anniversary celebration at Ramblebine Brewing Company with an evening bringing together founders, alumni, entrepreneurs, partners, and community leaders who have helped shape the success of BIC over the past four decades.

The event will honor the visionaries who helped build the foundation of the Business Incubator Center and celebrate the ripple effect local entrepreneurship has had across our region through business growth, job creation, innovation, and a stronger, more diversified economy.

Guests will also join us in celebrating BIC’s recent international recognition as Entrepreneur Support Organization of the Year, recognizing the impact of entrepreneurship support happening right here in Western Colorado.

The evening will feature the unveiling of a commemorative one-of-a-kind BIC beer, “BIC BIC Hooray!”, brewed in partnership with Ramblebine Brewing Company, along with special recognition of BIC founders and alumni.

Whether you’ve launched a business, supported an entrepreneur, partnered with BIC, or simply believe in the future of our local economy, this celebration is for you.

Our high school summer program students had the best time visiting Honey Rock Landing! Thank you for giving them a hands-on look at local farming, sustainability, and the care that goes into growing food in the high desert. 🍒🌿

REC summer programming starts today! ☀️ Before we jump into summer, here’s our Spring Dump, a look back at the last quarter of the school year and all the creativity, connection, and fun REC students shared along the way.

From fish printing, fuse bead designs, and shaving cream marbled art to time outside with friends and trying new things like hockey and golf, there was so much to celebrate. 🎨🏒⛳ Our middle school students also visited CMU for Mesa Experience, where they explored campus, major options, and future college opportunities.🎓

We’re grateful for a school year full of growth, friendships, family engagement, and everyday moments worth remembering.

One of our favorite moments from May was getting to celebrate Natalie, our GMMS Site Program Manager, and her well-deserved Best of Colorado Rising Star Award.⭐💙

Natalie brings so much heart, care, and steady leadership to REC, and it was special to celebrate the impact she has on our students, staff, and community.

A huge shoutout to Cari, one of our Secondary Program Directors, for putting together such a thoughtful nomination and helping make this celebration happen.

We’re so proud of you, Natalie!

A very special congratulations to our Colorado Mesa University graduates! 🎓🤘

REC is so proud to celebrate Van, Gizel, and Joana and this incredible accomplishment. Watching REC students continue their education and reach college graduation is such a meaningful moment. At REC, support does not stop after high school. Students can continue receiving post-secondary support as they take these next big steps.

Van is graduating with a degree in Accounting and dreams of owning her own business. Gizel is graduating with a double major in Hispanic Studies and Interpretation/Translation and is growing into a future community leader. Joana is graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish, with hopes of one day becoming a lawyer.

Congratulations, Mavericks! Your REC community is so proud of you.💛
