Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can change everything.

We’re currently working with a community member living in an RV alongside their loyal dog, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. On top of ongoing medical concerns, the pup urgently needs to be neutered to help prevent further complications and improve quality of life moving forward.

For many people experiencing housing instability, pets are family, emotional support, protection, and often their only constant companion. Situations like this can quickly become overwhelming financially and emotionally.

We’re asking our community to come together and help us support both this individual and their dog through veterinary care and recovery. Whether it’s a donation, sharing this post, or connecting us with low-cost veterinary resources, every bit of support matters.

If you’d like to help, please message us directly or reach out through our website sunshinecommunity.care

Thank you for continuing to show what community care really looks like.

Hey y'all! We have another 📢 Mutual Aid request📢! We don't typically help out with vet bills, but we also acknowledge that our furry friends are often the only beings we can trust. Another organization in the community reached out to us to see if we can help raise funds for a life-saving surgery for this pupper. Please know we have vetted the information and will be reaching out to other organizations to see if they can help. We have set a goal of raising $300 (about 1/4 of the cost), but we would love to raise more. As always, please share share share! We accept donations in person at the Feed, every Saturday between 4pm and 5pm at 302 South Ave. Donate button is attached to this point and a link to paypal is in the comments or DM us for Venmo/Cashapp. TIA for making our community great.

Outdoor recreation should be for everyone.

Grand Valley Adaptive Climbing (GVAC) officially became a Colorado nonprofit this February, and their 501(c)(3) approval just came through. For years, it operated as an informal program at Grand Valley Climbing in Grand Junction — offering monthly climbing sessions for people with disabilities, veterans, and anyone wanting to try climbing in a supportive and inclusive environment. When the original organizer stepped back, a dedicated group came together to make sure it didn’t disappear.

One of their regular climbers is Kiedan, a pr***en with cerebral palsy who has spent his entire life in a wheelchair. Getting him 30 feet up the climbing wall — out of his chair and experiencing that freedom — is something truly powerful. His smile says everything.

GVAC is currently raising $15,000 to help cover:
• Insurance
• Adaptive climbing equipment
• Background checks
• Keeping sessions free or low-cost for participants facing financial barriers related to disability

They’re already halfway there thanks to support from the Western Colorado Community Foundation and contributions from the board members themselves.

If you’re able to contribute, any amount helps and donations are tax-deductible.

Every contribution helps make these opportunities possible.
