Better late than never...
Minutes of 5/3/26 meeting:
-- Nine people and two dogs attended the meeting at Coffee Trader on Patterson.
-- A letter to the editor of the Daily Sentinel about Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth portraying the war on Iran as a holy war was approved unanimously without objection with four WCAF supporters signing on, (It was subsequently printed in the Sentinel shortly thereafter.)
-- It was suggested that we advertise WCAF on social media, perhaps on FB or Bluesky.
-- We renewed the Post Office Box at a cost of $188/year. When we first started the group it cost about $42/year.
-- Treasurer's Report: We deposited $191.96 from Kroger's Community Rewards program. Thanks everyone for designating WCAF as your preferred charity with City Market's Community Rewards Program. If you shop at City Market and use a Value Card, you can link your value card to WCAF online at CityMarket.com for the Community Rewards program, and after that, whenever you shop City Market will donate a small amount to WCAF at no cost to you. It adds up!
-- We currently have $4,219.83 in checking and $2,569.53 in savings.
-- We set the annual WCAF Summer Solstice BBQ & Pool Party for Saturday, June 20, from noon-4:00 p.m.
-- 2027 will be our 20th anniversary. Anne asked people what kind of commemorative swag they might like. (We've had ceramic coffee cups, pens and grocery tote bags made in the past.) People expressed a desire for travel mugs.
-- We adjourned at 5:00 p.m.

This approximately 4 foot tall white crucifix appeared within the last couple of weeks on the fence next to GJ Fire Department Station #6 on 12th Street (27 Rd), just north of G Road, on land that is part of Horizon Park, an undeveloped City-owned public park.

There's no name or any other information written on it.

If it's okay with the group, I'd like to send a letter to the City on behalf of WCAF pointing out that continuing to allow the crucifix to remain on taxpayer-owned public property is an impermissible government endorsement of Christianity and I'd like to ask them to remove this religious symbol from public property ASAP.

Do WCAF supporters approve of me sending that request to the city?
