ICYMI, our very own Colleen was on KKCO 11 News/KJCT News 8 earlier this week after Dolly's passing talking about the impact of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and how many children we reach in Mesa County with free monthly books. If you are still in shock about Dolly's passing (like us), consider a donation to our local Mesa County Imagination Library in her honor.

Dolly Parton was known around the world for her music. One part of her legacy is reaching millions of children, including some in Mesa County.

Another great week at Rotary! We had a wonderful presentation from Jessica Downing-Ford of Stages of History/Young Chautauqua. Dana brought a chocolatey gift for the president from his visit to Nucla, Nicole won the raffle, and we all sang “9 to 5” in honor of Dolly Parton and her work with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library – and were reminded why we aren't a singing club. Thanks for a great meeting!

The World has lost a light today. Her legacy will live on especially in the Imagination Library she started years ago. Please donate today to keep the program she was so passionate about alive here and all over the nation. Thank you Dolly!

Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80. The country music legend was known for songs including “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You” and “9 to 5.” She also starred in movies like ‘Steel Magnolias’ and ‘The Best Little Wh******se in Texas’.

We had special VIP’s at our meeting today. Donna Hood, our new DG for 5470, Barb Bowman, DGE, Steve Schultz, Kaylee Duckworth, District 5470 Admin, Sheree Fukui, District 5470 Grants Chair, and her husband Aki. We had a Club potluck which was full of amazing food. Gilbert, our gavel went on a trip to Oregon and had amazing weather. Katie won the raffle today. Thank you everyone for a great meeting.

Great Club Meeting today! Julie is now an official white badged Horizon Sunrise Rotary Club Member! Congrats Julie! She even brought gifts for the President from her travels to Chicago. We had a great presentation from Brigitte Sundermann, VP of CMU tech. Last but not least, Biff won the raffle and the big pot by drawing the Ace. Thank you everyone for a great meeting.

Today was President Tyler’s last meeting as President of our club. We had a big day with a great presentation by Sleep Heavenly Peace Bed Program, Gilbert the Gavel returned, Christian brought Tyler gifts from Bali, Kristina won the raffle but had to leave so Jim stepped in for her. We also had our Charter night celebrating Tyler’s presidency. Fun day, Fun year and fun people!

Another great week at Rotary!
We had the pleasure of hearing from Holly Webster with the Grand Junction Housing Authority, who shared insights on the important work being done to support housing in our community—thank you for an informative and meaningful presentation.
We also enjoyed a fun Rotary tradition as President Tyler received some thoughtful gifts from fellow Rotarians’ travels—always a highlight! 🌍
Congratulations to our exchange student Constantine for winning the raffle 🎉, and a warm Rotary welcome to our newest member, Katie Squier—we’re so glad to have you join us!
