It's almost time for Grand Valley Audubon Society's annual Spring Bird Count! 🐦 From May 13 through May 16, birders in Mesa County (that's you!) are encouraged to independently observe and record bird sightings via the eBird app from anywhere across the county.

GVAS has tracked observations during the Spring Bird Count since 1992. Long-time members may remember the structured, scheduled, county-wide coverage method we've utilized in the past, but in recent years we've adopted a more casual and flexible approach that allows the collected data to be utilized for science via eBird. Members who wish to keep their count area from years past are welcome to do so!

Questions about the Spring Bird Count? Contact Shannon Young at [email protected] or 970-260-1118.

🐦 We need your help to keep this trip on the calendar.

We still have several open spots for our upcoming Birding Trip through McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area—and we’re getting close to the point where we’ll have to make a call.

If you’ve been thinking about signing up, now is the moment.

These Adult Adventure trips aren’t just a great day on the river—they provide critical, unrestricted funding that keeps our stewardship, education, and river programs running throughout the season. And right now, that support matters more than ever.

You’ll spend the day:
✨ Exploring canyon country from the water
✨ Spotting spring birds in a truly unique setting with expert birders
✨ Connecting with a community that cares about these places

👉 Help us make it happen: https://www.coloradocanyonsassociation.org/events/2026/birdingadventuretrip

Bring a friend, share this post, or snag one of the remaining spots—we’d love to have you out there with us ❤️
