This Saturday, October 17, marks the No Kings action here in Grand Junction! Unlike previous years, this year's event is not purely a protest. Instead, it's a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early and ensure every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard. The action will begin at the Historic Lowell School Building (310 N. 7th Street) at noon. You can RSVP at the link!

Protect Colorado’s Future

Senator Michael Bennet and Senator John Hickenlooper just introduced the – a commonsense solution to protect taxpayers and public lands.

Thanks to new leasing policies enacted by Congress in 2025, executive orders to increase federal oil and gas drilling, and currently proposed revisions to the BLM’s Oil and Gas rule that would roll back broadly-supported, long-overdue bonding requirements, the Stop Orphaned Wells Act is needed now more than ever.

The industry is poised to drill as many as 3.8 million wells on our public lands in the coming years and then pass an estimated $753 billion in potential financial liabilities back onto local communities and taxpayers.

In response to the long-standing orphaned well problem, the Bureau of Land Management modernized the oil and gas leasing system on federal public lands by updating bonding requirements to protect American taxpayers and make sure oil and gas companies pay to clean up their own abandoned wells after drilling projects have concluded. But the Administration's recent proposal to roll back these bonding requirements would risk billions in taxpayer-funded cleanup liabilities.

Our communities need the Stop Orphaned Wells Act to ensure the wells that are drilled on our public lands are not abandoned and left for us to foot the cleanup bill.

One in eight Coloradans still can't afford the health care they need, and federal cuts are about to make Medicaid coverage even shakier. Amendment 87 helps backfill that lost funding and makes health care more affordable for families.

Jeanette is voting yes on Amendment 87. Like 97% of Coloradans, she'll pay less in state income tax, and the new revenue from those earning over $500,000 is required to go to health care, K-12 schools, and child care.

Long-term care and home health services matter to older adults and their families. Under 87, most of them pay less in state income tax, and the new revenue is dedicated to health care, which can include the kinds of services that help people stay in their own homes."
