Satellite analysis reveals that the catastrophic flash floods sweeping through the Trishuli River basin originated from a massive glacial collapse on the North Face of Mt. Langtang Lirung. According to reports by K***a Dixit in Nepali Times , the sudden avalanche blocked the Lhende Khola along the border before sending a wall of mud, ice, and boulders rushing downstream. This tragedy highlights the escalating long-term threat of glacial collapse, permafrost thaw, and climate-induced disasters across vulnerable Himalayan watersheds—underlining Nepal’s crucial call for international Loss and Damage climate compensation.
