On this day, 1953.05.29; Nepali Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and New Zealander Edmund Hillary together became the first two individuals to have reached the summit of Mt Everest (8848.86 m).

If you’ve followed the journey of Everest ER, this face needs absolutely no introduction. Lakpa Sherpa, affectionately known by all of us as "HRA Lakpa."
Lakpa has been the absolute backbone of our team since our very first day in 2003. As we navigated another incredible season on the mountain, Lakpa is officially marking his 24th consecutive season on Everest. Let that sink in! 🙌

He is so much more than a teammate; he is a lifeline. When he isn't being a proud father to his two sons, Lakpa is on the front lines of high-altitude safety as a premier long-line helicopter rescue specialist.

Always pushing boundaries, he also pioneered our tech-forward search efforts by completing advanced search-and-rescue drone training. 🛸🚁
From the earliest days of Everest ER to the modern cutting-edge rescues of today, Lakpa’s expertise, warmth, and dedication keep our camp and the climbing community safe year after year.
We aren't just lucky to have him, we are honored.

Welcome on Board!!

It gives us immense pleasure to officially introduce the Himalayan Rescue Association - Nepal as the Medical Partner and promotor for the upcoming Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Open Climbing Competition (TNSOCC) – 2026.

The Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal(HRA)is a voluntary non-profit organization formed in 1973 with an objective to reduce casualties in the Nepal Himalayas, especially keeping in view the increasing number of Nepali and foreigners who trek up into the remote wilderness.

One of the most important tasks of the HRA is to try to prevent deaths from Mountain Illness that confronts foreign trekkers and Nepali people. Since its inception, it has manned a small aid-post in the Khumbu village of Pheriche at an altitude of 4,250m. The Pheriche aid-post is manned twice yearly during the trekking season by volunteer doctors. Similarly, since November 1981 another permanent aid-post in Manang at an altitude of 3,550m manned by volunteer doctors of HRA has been in operation. The Association has also opened various temporary posts during tourist seasons at various points like the Na Village in Rolwaling, at the mouth of the Annapurna Sanctuary, the Gokyo Trail and at the Gosaikunda Lake area.
