Amicus was founded in 1992 in memory of Andrew Lee Jones, who was executed in Louisiana in 1991.

Yesterday, Ker'Sean Ramey was executed by way of lethal injection in Texas, almost a week after the ex*****on of his co-defendant, LeJames Norman. Both were convicted for the deaths of Celso Lopez, Tiffani Peacock and Sam Roberts.

In his final statement, Ker'Sean thanked God, his family and other men on Texas' death row. He said, "I didn’t come from a culture in a healthy sense. To you brothers, I can’t name everybody, you know who you are, I greatly appreciate you."

Ker'Sean Ramey is scheduled to be executed on 23 September 2026 in Texas. Ker'Sean's trial took place before an almost all-white jury, with peremptory strikes of black jurors by the State.

His ex*****on is scheduled to take place one week after the ex*****on of co-defendant LeJames Norman, in an unusual back-to-back scheduling for co-defendants. He has now filed a clemency application with the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.

On Wednesday, LeJames Norman was executed by way of lethal injection in Texas, making this the state's 5th ex*****on this year.

LeJames was executed for the 2005 murders of Samuel Roberts, Tiffani Peacock, and Celso Lopez during an attempted robbery. LeJames pled guilty, but made several appeals, raising issues of ineffective assistance of counsel. His co-defendant, Ker’Sean Olajuwa Ramey, is scheduled to be executed next week.

On the 16th of September, LeJames Norman is scheduled to be executed for a series of murders committed when he was 19 years old. If executed, he will be the 25th ex*****on in the US this year, and the 5th in Texas.

LeJames Norman pled guilty to his crimes and cooperated with law enforcement. He was sentenced to death for a crime committed a month after Texas passed a law that offers life-without-parole as a sentencing option. All of his post-conviction appeals have been denied. Last week, Daniel Own Conahan Jr. was executed by way of lethal injection in Florida. This marks the state's 15th ex*****on this year.

Daniel Conahan Jr. was executed for the murder of Richard Montgomery, but he always maintained his innocence. He had no final statement before the three-drug lethal injection procedure started.

On the 16th of September, two inmates are scheduled to be executed: Stacey Humphreys and LeJames Norman.

Stacey Humphreys was sentenced to death for the murder of Cyndi Williams and Lori Brown. His case concerns issues of jury misconduct, childhood abuse and conflict of interest. He was recently denied relief by the US Supreme Court, but three Justices had a dissenting view, including Justice Sotomayor.
