"Together, we can. Yes, we can." 💛

Today, we celebrate the graduation of four Ghanaian Paediatric Oncology Nurse Fellows from the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives.

Through World Child Cancer, with support from UBS Optimus Foundation, these nurses were fully funded to complete a two-year specialist fellowship in Paediatric Oncology Nursing.

In this video, meet graduate Naa Martekie Tackie-Martey from Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Already an Oncology Nurse Specialist, Naa pursued the fellowship to help fellow nurses recognise the early signs of childhood cancer and ensure children are referred for treatment as quickly as possible.

Alongside her fellow graduates, Naa is helping to strengthen paediatric oncology care across Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Their impact doesn't stop here. As graduates, they will mentor future nurses and continue supporting specialist training, creating a lasting ripple effect for children with cancer and their families.

Together, we make progress possible.

It’s time for more honest conversations about the emotional toll of being a healthcare frontliner. ⏱️

In Episode Two of You're Not Alone, Edwin Boachie-Yiadom, Clinical Psychologist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana, speaks candidly about the emotional weight healthcare professionals carry every day, and how easy it can be to put everyone else’s needs before your own.

In this clip, Edwin reminds us that low moments are not breaking points; they are learning curves. Moments to pause, reflect, process, and rebuild resilience.

A powerful conversation about giving yourself permission to feel, to be vulnerable, and to speak openly instead of carrying everything in silence.

When a child loses their appetite during cancer treatment, it’s not just about food, it can affect their strength, recovery, and ability to keep going 💛

This World Nutrition Day, we’re highlighting why nutrition should be part of every child’s cancer care 🍎

Thanks to the support provided by the UK government through their UK Aid Match Fund, our Ghana team has been leading efforts to improve access to nutrition support for children with cancer and their families, while also advocating for nutrition to be prioritised across the global health community.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing stories from Ghana that show the real difference nutrition support can make for children facing cancer. Stay tuned!

Nurses don’t just deliver care, they carry families through cancer.

Meet Joy Ajibta, a paediatric oncology nurse at Tamale Teaching Hospital in Ghana.

Joy’s research explored the emotional experiences of parents of children facing cancer, helping healthcare teams better understand the emotional challenges families face throughout treatment and how to build greater trust, empathy, and support.

With support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), Joy attended SIOP Africa 2026 to present his findings and ensure frontline nursing perspectives are heard on a global stage.

When nurses are empowered to lead research, share experiences, and shape conversations around care, health systems become stronger and more human-centred.

🎥 Watch the video to hear Joy share his experience and why investing in nurses matters.

Our mission is a world where all children have equal access to quality cancer care. Our goal is big, but small changes add up and together we are building a brighter future.

👉Change starts with you. When you donate, you give hope to children with cancer. Every donation makes a difference. That is why we are asking you to join our amazing regular givers, who help us take a step towards a brighter future, every month.

£12 a month, could provide a family in Ghana with a welcome pack when they arrive at the oncology ward. It makes the transition from the life they knew to a life of appointments, care and uncertainty a little less scary. It makes a huge difference to the families we support, but it’s only possible with your support.

Every month you donate, makes more change possible and helps us get a step closer to our goal.

“She is funny, and she makes me laugh.” 💛

When 13-year-old Sanu began treatment for leukaemia in Nepal, his father was facing overwhelming emotional and financial pressure as a single parent caring for his son in hospital.

At first, Sanu was very quiet and struggled to interact with others during treatment. But through support from our Family Support Officer named Nirmala, Sanu gradually began to connect with others through games, activities, counselling, and emotional support.

“He is now connecting with friends, playing, and socializing more than when he first arrived,” shared Senior Nurse Prechan Thapaliya.

Alongside medical treatment, Sanu’s family also received support with accommodation and treatment-related costs.

At Mbingo Baptist Hospital, Cameroon, children receiving cancer treatment now have a new space designed for learning, play, and moments of normality during treatment 💛

Through our collaboration with Amgen, World Child Cancer is proud to support the opening of this new space for children receiving cancer treatment.

Equipped with books, stationery, furniture, and learning materials, the school gives children the opportunity to continue learning while staying connected to their education. 📚

The school was officially launched earlier this year during International Childhood Cancer Day, with celebrations shared by children, caregivers, parents, and medical staff.

“This is going to make a significant difference not only to the care of our children here, but to their continuous growth.” - Dr. Fomekong Gerard Tchinda

Watch the video, and hear from parents, caregivers, and healthcare staff in the video below about what this milestone means for children and families at Mbingo Baptist Hospital 🎥

The 79th World Health Assembly is here! 🚀

Last week, World Child Cancer Trustee Julie Torode joined global health leaders and partners ahead of the Assembly to champion better outcomes for children with cancer everywhere.

From inspiring conversations with partners at WHO, IAEA and the Government of Nepal, to the launch of new global childhood cancer survival estimates, it was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through collaboration.

Our CEO Luke Thomas also attended the World Health Assembly, continuing important discussions with WHO and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Every conversation, partnership and shared commitment brings us closer to a world where every child with cancer has access to the care they need 💛
