The Elliot Foundation

The Elliot Foundation The Elliot Foundation is a charitable multi-academy trust specialising in primary academies.

We are building a thriving community of both converter and sponsored primary academies that succeed on behalf of their children. We bring an understanding of the unique role of successful primary education as a pre- requisite for even greater success at secondary level. We will maintain a family of schools that is uncompromising in its search for excellence and in its commitment to searching for and sharing emerging next practice across its academies.

Social media is awash with stories of Jólabókaflód, a supposed Icelandic tradition where everyone swaps books on Christmas Eve and reads them late into the eve - all while feasting on hot drinks and chocolate.

In reality, Jólabókaflód, or the "Great Book Flood", simply refers to the flood of books sold at Christmas time, partly due to publishers withholding book releases until the festive period. There's no specific tradition around reading on Christmas Eve, but this is when presents are traditionally exchanged, and many do dip into a good book before heading off to bed.

Whatever the origins, many love the idea. Here's a picture of some of our festive reading and we hope you get stuck into a good book during the break too!

🎅 Santa has been busy visiting George Betts Primary Academy and our other schools this month! Don't worry, though—we’ve made sure he’s back at the North Pole in plenty of time for his big night.
