LGBT+ Humanists

LGBT+ Humanists Since 1979, we've fought for a fairer society by advocating for Humanism and LGBT rights. Since 2012 it is proud to be the LGBT+ section of Humanists UK.

We challenge homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia wherever we find them. We believe that this is the only life we'll ever have, and so the time to be happy is now. For over 40 years, LGBT Humanists (formerly the GALHA) has promoted Humanism as a rational, naturalistic worldview that trusts the scientific method as the most reliable route to truth and encourages a moral and ethical life based on l

ogic, reason and compassion. It campaigns for equality and diversity, particularly relating to sexual orientation and identity – both in the UK and internationally. It is volunteer-led and funded by supporter donations.

May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). LGBT+ Humanists have been committed to IDAHOBIT since its inception in 2004, and we will continue to raise awareness of the violence and discrimination faced by le***an, gay, bisexual and transgender people, including all people who have diverse gender identities or gender expressions.

UK civil servants could be barred from officially taking part in Pride marches following a new legal challenge.

The Christian Institute has lodged papers at the High Court seeking a judicial review, arguing that civil servants’ involvement in Pride events breaches rules on political impartiality.

The Civil Service LGBT+ Network currently organises groups of officials to attend Pride parades – but campaigners claim that the participation of Whitehall staff at LGBTQ+ parades signals that the civil service has “taken a side” on what they describe as “contentious political issues”.

Christian Institute Deputy Director Simon Calvert said: “Whether one agrees with it or not, no one can deny that the LGBTQ+ Pride movement and its hard-line gender ideology are profoundly political. […] It is inappropriate for civil servants to be officially endorsing Pride.”

'Conversion therapy' is nothing but LGBT-hatred disguised as religious compassion. Each day it remains legal is another day vulnerable LGBT people are preyed upon. The time for it to be banned in full throughout the UK is well overdue. Ban 'conversion therapy!' now!

We and LGBT Humanists have campaigned for a ban on 'conversion therapy' for decades. It's a discredited and harmful practice, rooted in false and often pseudoscientific religious beliefs. The law must be on the side of the victims and not those who abuse LGBT people.
