For the people of Gaza, even a time of celebration like Eid is marred by violence.

They are still facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis, with hospitals struggling to stay open due to a lack of essential supplies such as medicine, water and even fuel.

You can help delivery humanitarian assistance to people in both Gaza and Lebanon by donating to our Middle East Appeal using the link below:

No girl should be held back because of her period.

Yet every day, girls around the world are missing school, sport and opportunities because of stigma, lack of access to period products, unsafe toilets and unequal systems.

Periods are natural. Being excluded because of them should never be.

Save and share to stand with period justice.

Introducing the Unequal Lens - a new network for journalists and storytellers working to challenge how power, race and inequality shape global storytelling.

At ActionAid UK, we’re questioning the systems, narratives and editorial practices that determine whose stories are told, how they’re framed and who gets heard.

Period poverty is not just about pads, for many, a period means missing lessons, work, hanging out with friends, and opportunities lost over a lifetime. Every month, it shows up again...and the cycle continues.

On Menstrual Hygiene Day, we’re reminded that dignity, safety and access to menstrual care shouldn’t depend on where you live or what you can afford.

‘It was always a struggle for me that I often had no pads, I had to use pieces of cloth just to get to school. But ActionAid showed us how to make reusable pads with suitable fabric. Now I can sew my own. So when I go back to school, I won’t face that problem again’ – Daniella, ActionAid girls’ camp, Rwanda.

Meet Amadia, Daniella, Christine and Yvette, girls from Rwanda who are demanding period justice to break the cycle of period poverty.

And ActionAid is right beside them. From DIY period pad workshops to building infrastructure that brings clean water and safe toilets to schools, we’re coming up with practical solutions together.

Summer girls clubs in Nyanza District, Rwanda are just one example of ActionAid supported interventions that tackle the cycle of period poverty.

During classes girls learn about sexual health and reproductive rights, how to create their own sanitary pads and where to access support.

Read more about period justice and find out how you can champion period justice along with them. https://bit.ly/4dxBD7O
