We’re looking for a Veteran Outreach Worker to join our 'Comedy for Veterans' Project and help us reach veterans who may be underrepresented in traditional support pathways — with a particular focus on veterans from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds.
This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about veteran support, community engagement, inclusion and mental wellbeing, who can build genuine relationships and create spaces where people feel welcome and supported.
The role:
12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to extend
Part-time: 21 hours per week
Some evenings and weekends required
£15 per hour (£17,500 per year)
Based at The Comedy School, Camden, London
Enhanced DBS and project-specific security checks may be required
You’ll lead outreach, build relationships with veteran and community organisations, provide peer support and mentoring, help identify barriers to participation, and support inclusive workshops and events.
We’re looking for someone with:
✔ Experience in outreach, peer support, mentoring or community engagement
✔ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
✔ An understanding of mental health and wellbeing, particularly in relation to veterans
✔ Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries
✔ A strong commitment to inclusion and accessibility
Experience in social work, mental health support, community organising or creative arts is desirable. Mental Health First Aid and trauma-informed practice experience are also welcome.
