Update: Automatically enter eligible works for free through The Ivors Academy Composer Awards Bursary

If you're facing financial barriers to enter The Ivors Composer Awards, simply complete the bursary application form and you'll automatically receive a code to enter eligible works free of charge.

You'll need to:

• Be a member of The Ivors Academy, including our free Discovery tier
• Provide your name, email address and membership number
• Tell us your main genre or discipline
• Select the category you wish to enter
• Optionally provide diversity, inclusion and equality information

Once you've submitted the form, we'll send you a code to use when entering eligible works.

Please note that Professional members already receive free entry to The Ivors Composer Awards as part of their membership benefits and do not need to apply for the bursary.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kanya King CBE.

Last year, we were proud to present Kanya with an Ivors Academy Honour in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to music and culture.

Through founding the MOBO Awards 30 years ago, Kanya transformed the British music landscape, challenging gatekeepers, elevating Black creativity and creating opportunities for generations of artists, songwriters, composers and music professionals.

What began as a bold vision grew into a cultural movement that continues to celebrate, support and invest in talent through initiatives including MOBO UnSung, MOBOLISE and the MOBO Trust.

Kanya's entrepreneurial spirit, determination and leadership changed the music industry for the better. Her impact extends far beyond the awards she created, leaving a lasting legacy across music, culture and society.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues.

Save the date: Ivors Composer Week, 16 - 20 November

Following the success of The Ivors Academy Summit in May, the first Ivors Composer Summit will take place on 18 November during Ivors Composer Week 2026.

Created to connect, inspire and empower composers at every stage of their career, the Composer Summit will bring the composing community together for a day of empowerment and knowledge.

Ivors Composer Week will expand the celebration of composition beyond the awards, with a week of events dedicated to supporting, championing and connecting composers.

Members will be able to access discounted tickets for the Composer Summit.

Session recordings and insights will be available free to all members as part of our Knowledge Toolkit for composers and songwriters.

Applications are open for The Ivors Academy Composer Awards Bursary.

To prevent financial circumstances stopping composers from having their work recognised, we've introduced The Ivors Academy Composer Awards Bursary.

It will help composers who face financial barriers to enter their work for consideration.

You may be eligible if you are:

• A composer working in any genre or discipline

• A member of The Ivors Academy, including free Discovery membership

• Facing financial circumstances that would otherwise prevent you from entering

The bursary covers the awards entry fee for eligible Core and Discovery members.

For 2026, Professional members can enter work for free.

✨ Breakthrough, recognising an emerging composer or composing partnership at a pivotal moment in their career.

🎼 Composer of the Year, celebrating an outstanding body of music premiered during the eligibility period.

These join Fellowship of The Ivors Academy, Outstanding Contribution to Music and Innovation as awards presented in the gift of The Ivors Academy.

If you know a composer that qualifies within the rules, you can submit their nomination for free.
