Sport is more than a game — it’s a boost for mental health.

This year, LPFF grounds hosted thousands of matches, from 737 cricket games to 1,848 adult football fixtures and 1,631 youth small‑sided matches. With 65% of all pitch use by young people, our playing fields are a vital source of connection, confidence and routine.

As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the power of sport to help Londoners feel healthier and happier.

Thank you for helping us to provide a place to play sport forever. 💚

Huge congratulations to one of our trustees - Henrietta Martin-Fisher - for completing the TCS London Marathon yesterday! 🏃‍♀️✨

The atmosphere was incredible, with amazing support all along the route helping to keep runners’ spirits high.

Henrietta has been a trustee since 2014 and took on the marathon to raise vital funds for LPFF — we’re so proud of her achievement and grateful for her dedication to our mission. 💚

Following Barbara Armstrong's retirement from her Occupational Therapist role at NELFT on 31st March, we want to celebrate her incredible 20‑year contribution to our mental health project Coping Through Football.

From day one, Barbara helped shape the project’s vision and set the standard for clinical governance, always putting service users first. Her compassion, professionalism and unwavering drive have inspired everyone involved and played a huge part in the project’s long‑standing success.

Looking back at so many milestones—from Stamford Bridge to Wembley, UEFA Grassroots Awards to the House of Lords—it’s clear just how deeply her influence runs through the story of CTF.

Thank you, Barbara, for everything you’ve given to the project and the people it supports. Wishing you a very happy and well‑earned retirement.

🌱 Happy ! 🌱
A massive shout‑out to all the incredible groundsmen and grounds teams working tirelessly at grassroots venues across the country.

After a long football season filled with relentless rain, cold snaps, and nonstop fixtures, you’re the ones making sure the pitches stay playable, safe, and ready for action. Your early mornings, late nights, and sheer dedication keep our community clubs alive.

Grassroots football wouldn’t happen without you — the unsung heroes behind every match.
Thank you for everything you do!

After 20 years on the job, Kevin has seen it all — early mornings, changing weather and thousands of matches played on the pitches he cares for every day.

For him, groundsmanship is more than just grass — it’s about people, the community and providing a place to play sport forever.

To celebrate we spoke to Kevin to find out a bit more about what he does and why he loves it (and what he listens to on those long days outdoors!) 🌱

We’re kicking off with a story that truly deserves the spotlight.

Meet Kevin, Head Groundsman at LMPF Greenford — a man whose dedication goes far beyond the pitch. Kevin keeps things running, not just through skill, but through passion, long hours and sheer determination.

This interview is a reminder that behind every pitch is someone putting in the unseen hours, solving problems and making it all possible.

Stay tuned as we share Kevin’s story — and celebrate the people who keep the game going, no matter the challenges. 🌱⚽

It’s .
A reminder that without grounds teams, there is no match day.

Big shout-out to our grounds staff (looking smart in this photo!) who are out in the rain, mud and early mornings ensuring pitches are prepared and ready for you!
