📢 Join the next IACD Global Community Development Researchers’ Forum Meeting

We're delighted to welcome the research team from UISCE, Ireland’s National Advocacy Service for People who Use Drugs, for an important discussion on the role of peer-led community development in research, advocacy, and service development.

This session will explore how meaningful collaboration can move beyond consultation towards genuine participation, co-production, and empowerment. The discussion will also highlight the importance of centring lived experience, protecting human rights, and ensuring that the voices of people who use drugs are heard in decisions that affect their lives.

On 6th March 2026, IACD hosted a webinar exploring the role of community development in strengthening disaster risk reduction and management across the ASEAN region.

Hosted by IACD Trustees for Southeast Asia, Marlon de Luna Era and Sara Shakilla Mohd Salim, the session featured insightful presentations from Dr. Rahmawati Husein and Professor Emmanuel Luna on community resilience, disaster governance, climate resilience, and the importance of locally-led approaches in responding to crises and supporting sustainable communities. On 24th February 2026 IACD hosted a workshop with Samiullah Hamidee founder of the Organisation for Social and Economic Development (OSED) based in Afghanistan. During his input Sami provided some background context to the key issues of concern for communities in Afghanistan today, an overview of the work of OSED in addressing issues of social justice and human rights and supporting community empowerment. On 17th February 2026, the International Association for Community Development hosted a North America and Caribbean Islands Regional Webinar: Moving from Division to Diversity: Bridge-Building Dialogue.

At a time of increasing polarisation and binary positioning, the session explored how we can create space for dialogue that integrates diverse perspectives for the well-being of our communities.

The webinar featured inputs from Ron Hustedde, Professor Emeritus of Community & Leadership Development at the University of Kentucky, and others.
