Today, we had the privilege of supporting a young Syrian couple, not long settled in our community as asylum seekers, as they prepare to welcome their newborn baby. ❤️

With the help of our food bank and the kindness of those who continue to give, we were able to deliver a much-needed car seat for their growing family — a small act that carries huge meaning during such an important moment in their lives.

Behind every parcel, every donation, and every delivery is a real family rebuilding their future with hope, courage, and dignity. Supporting those seeking safety and stability is not just about meeting practical needs — it’s about showing compassion, creating belonging, and reminding people they are not alone.

We are proud to serve every member of our community and grateful to everyone who helps make this possible. 🤍

When a mother was forced to pause her work to care for her child, she lost more than just wages — she lost stability.

But in just 30 minutes, our community came together to restore it. ❤️

As a community you raised funds to support her, reminding us of a powerful principle in our faith: caring for the Miskeen. A Miskeen is not simply someone who is poor, but someone held back by circumstances beyond their control — whether financial, political, or social.

This is what compassion looks like in action. This is what responsibility feels like.

And this support goes beyond labels — because every mother deserves dignity, care, and security, regardless of her religion or background.

Looking after those in difficult situations isn’t optional for us — it’s a duty.

Every Sunday, we collect fresh meat donations from local stores to support families in need through our food bank ❤️

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we currently collect from stores in Pollokshields, Shawlands, and Govanhill — but we need your help to do even more.

🛒 If you’re shopping at one of these stores, please consider donating some meat — even a small contribution can make a real difference to someone’s week.

📍 Shopping somewhere else? Let us know!
If you donate at a different store, send us a message with the location and we’ll do our best to arrange collection from there too.

Together, we can make sure no good food goes to waste and more families are supported 💛

📩 DM us with store suggestions or questions
🙏 Thank you for your continued support

The snow falls. The cold bites. But the الحاجة (need) doesn’t stop — and neither does he.

Meet Alam Sher. The man behind - it’s not often those in charge lead by example. Not in this case.

While most stay warm indoors, he’s out here making sure no family is forgotten. This is what true service looks like. This is what sincerity looks like.

For the sake of Allah, we keep going. 🤍

Your weekly update.

Meet one of our key volunteers and her 7 year old Harris.

20+ years of service in the NHS as a theatre Nurse. Countless lives touched. And now, her 7-year-old following in her footsteps. He didn’t think twice and emptied his piggy bank to help the most vulnerable of our society.

We don’t only serve food bags - we are out here shaping the next generation for the people of Glasgow.

Kindness starts somewhere — let it start with us. Support your local community and make a difference by getting involved.

Help us make this world a better place for all ❤️🤲🙏🏼

Asalamualaikum - peace and blessings with you all.

Proof that you don’t need years of experience to make a massive impact — just heart, hustle, and maybe a bad haircut 🤪🤣

Our young volunteer is showing us all how it’s done: turning up with energy, lifting others up, and reminding us that age is just a number when it comes to the impact you can have on any organisation.

Future leader? Absolutely.
Difference-maker? Already happening.

The world feels a little brighter (and a lot more organised) because of you 💛✨

Thank you .zz for showing up every week.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Behind every food parcel is a story, a struggle, and a reason to keep going — and behind every parcel is this incredible team. 💛

Our volunteers show up with kindness, compassion, and the belief that no one should face hard times alone. It’s not just about food — it’s about dignity, hope, and reminding people that they matter.

So proud to stand alongside people who turn empathy into action every single day. Together, we’re making a difference — one family, one smile, one act of kindness at a time. 🌍✨

Another week, another update for you all.

An interesting observation for this week’s post.

But first a fun fact for you all:

‘Zakat’ is known as the third pillar of Islam: a mandatory charitable obligation for adult Muslims whose wealth exceeds a minimum threshold, known as nisab. It requires donating 2.5% of qualifying annual wealth—primarily savings, gold, silver, and business assets—to specific beneficiaries, such as the poor and needy. This usually allows us to give out cash to our service users every ramadhan as the community will donate to us. This year reports British Muslims alone donate £2.2 billion every year to charity, up to 4 x times the national average.

Against that background, today we were privileged to be able to hand out cash to service user families. Very interestingly, all 3 families I tried to give cash to refused to take the money and asked for the food parcel alone - insisting that was enough. I had to argue with a single mother and then an 11 year old boy to take the money from me. All families also insisted to gift me their Eid food and that I did not leave empty handed.

The reason for highlighting this is because asylum seekers/ refugees are often painted out to be individuals who are here to abuse our system. Fleeing war and leaving your home is not the dream of anybody. A lot of these people were teachers and professionals in their home countries. Using the service is not something they take pride in and many are eager to tell us their story and how they have never used a food bank in their life.

But at we seek to re-assure these families that they are not judged. Nor is there any shame in receiving help in a world where inflation is felt by us all. These people have come here seeking freedom, justice and dignity. Our duty is to try ensure those needs are met.

“Refugees didn’t just escape a place. They had to escape a thousand memories until they’d put enough time and distance between them and their misery to wake to a better day.”

Nadia Hashimi

Until next week people ✌️

Asalamualaikum - peace be with you ❤️💚🖤🩵🩶💙🧡💛
