It's medication and side effects. It's the worry about when the next seizure might happen. It's changes to plans, memory difficulties, feeling isolated and needing someone to talk to.

Epilepsy is so much more than seizures.

You don’t look at someone and know they have epilepsy. There’s often nothing on the outside to tell you what someone may be managing on the inside.

Epilepsy can mean living with medication, appointments, side effects, fatigue, memory difficulties, changes to plans, and so much more.

It may not be visible, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

Need someone to check in?

Living with epilepsy can sometimes feel difficult or isolating, and there are times when having someone to talk to can make a difference.

Our Check-in Service offers free weekly telephone calls, with support for your mental health and wellbeing, as well as emotional and practical support around living with epilepsy.

The service is available to anyone living in Scotland who has a diagnosis of epilepsy and would benefit from some extra support.

Hi pals! I’m Katie from Epilepsy Scotland and I have focal impaired awareness seizures. I love getting out and about, but sometimes it can be tricky.

There are a few cards I use that can make travelling and days out a little easier. I thought I'd share them in case they're useful to someone else too.
