A crisp Canberra winter morning greeted 299 parkrunners who joined us beside Yarralumla Creek for the 35th edition of the Woden Town parkrun.
While temperatures may have dipped, enthusiasm certainly didn’t, with another strong turnout nudging 300. Despite the chilly conditions, 65 participants recorded new personal bests.
We were delighted to welcome 54 first timers to Woden Town, including three people completing their very first parkrun anywhere! We hope you enjoyed your morning with us and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Congratulations also to our milestone achievers:
⭐️ 25 parkruns – Robyn Page, Maddison Hardy
⭐️ 50 parkruns – Greg Knight, Katie Cole, Brenton Cox
We also welcomed two first-time volunteers, Tessa Campbell and Evangeline Martin. Thank you for stepping into a high-vis vest and helping make the event possible. 🙌
The event was made possible by 19 volunteers:
Lili MOONEY • Michael DALY • Claire GAO • Jaida PIASENTE • Anna BRUGGY • Leesa HARMAN • Sarah HAYNE • Maddy SIMSON • Mandy MACLEAN • Jillian MITCHELL • Ricky SOMERVILLE • Chell NOBLE • Steven WILSON • Graham BLAKE • Trish BLAKE • Andrew DEMPSTER • Toby BELLWOOD • Tessa CAMPBELL • Evangeline MARTIN
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, walked, jogged, ran, cheered or supported the event this week.
See you next Saturday. 🎉
P.S. Just a quick note that in just two weeks, we’re holding our first ever Pacer Week! This is something of a parkrun tradition that many (not all) events try from time to time.
Woden Town will be following in the footsteps locally of the Ginninderra and Gungahlin parkruns, which have both held pacer weeks in recent years. In fact, Gungahlin is lending us the volunteer vests that our pace leaders will wear, identifying the time that they are running on their back!
More details closer to the event, but if this interests you, mark your calendar now for Saturday 27 June. 🗓️
