⏳ Deferred Examinations ⌛
A deferred exam means “sitting of an examination at a time other than the scheduled time/date”. You should apply for a deferred exam if unexpected and unavoidable events, such as illness, injury, or other serious events, prevent you from attending your scheduled exam.
You can apply for a deferred exam via an Extenuating Circumstances Application.
You can use the ECA form if you did not attempt the exam, if you fell ill during an exam and abandoned it (and reported to the invigilators), or if you could not attend owing to extenuating circumstances.
You must submit an ECA requesting a deferred examination within five (5) working days after the original date of the examination.
If circumstances occur that impact your ability to undertake a deferred exam, you may lodge one additional ECA within five (5) working days of the deferred exam date.
This semester Deferred Exams will be held in the following 2 periods:
Deferred Exam Period (DEP) 1: 23 November 2026 to 4 December 2026
Deferred Exam Period (DEP) 2: 15 February 2027 to 19 February 2027
If you are looking to defer (ECA) on medical grounds, make sure your supporting document covers the date of the exam.
