The Girls Run the World Melbourne (GRTW) 2026 Launch Event was a success! 🎉

The Launch Event hosted at the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria (AIIA VIC) brought together over 70 guests, connecting our 2026 Cohort with representatives from 12 host organisations in international affairs and special guests from across the Consular Corps, government, corporate and not-for-profit sectors.

Seeing the 26 participants of our 2026 cohort build their confidence, become friends with their cohort, receive guidance from our 2025 alumni, and connect with professionals was truly the highlight of the night.

Speeches shared by the GRTW Melbourne organising team, as well as star 2025 alumni Neisha Scully and Dharshna Baskar, explored the continuous growth of the program and its transformative impacts on the unique journeys of young leaders creating their own path in international affairs.

Our team would like to express our gratitude to the AIIA VIC team for graciously hosting us and supporting the coordination of the Launch Event. Thanks to their incredible support, the success of the 2026 Launch Event was possible.

We would also like to sincerely thank the British Consulate General Melbourne for their enduring support and sponsorship of the event.

Thank you to everyone who attended this special evening. Your enthusiasm, support and belief in GRTW’s mission to empower young women interested in diplomacy and international affairs makes this program possible.

GRTW looks forward to kicking off the second year of the Melbourne-based program in April and supporting our 2026 cohort as they begin their placements.

We had the privilege of co-hosting a fantastic panel discussion on women in diplomacy with the British Consulate General in Sydney

The event featured inspiring leaders:
👩‍💼 Louise Cantillon – British Consul General and Deputy Trade Commissioner
👩‍💼 Camille Blackburn – Director for APAC, Financial Conduct Authority
👩‍💼 Brianna Delahunty – Co-Founder, Girls Run & Policy Research Manager, Chief Executive Women

They shared valuable insights on leadership, challenges, and opportunities, and explored what a more inclusive future for women in diplomacy could look like. 🌍💬

Conversations like this remind us that gender equity in diplomacy is not just about breaking barriers, but about shaping a stronger, more collaborative, and diverse future.

📣Out Now: Voices of the Future, Volume 1
A next generation take on AUKUS.

Girls Run the World and the ANU Strategic & Defence Studies Centre are proud to launch the first edition of Voices of the Future—a powerful publication authored by alumni of the Women in Strategic Policy program.

This volume offers bold, thoughtful insights into building a social license for AUKUS and puts forward tangible, actionable recommendations for policymakers.

We invite leaders and decision-makers to read, reflect, and respond—not just for the future, but for the present. Because young Australians aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow—they’re shaping national security today.
