Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate and thank our Founder and former CEO, Asha Clementi, for everything she has given to Girls Run the World.
Asha founded Girls Run the World in 2018 with a vision of creating a space where young women could connect, learn, lead and see themselves in the rooms where decisions are made. Since then, that vision has grown into a community that has connected and inspired hundreds of young women across Australia, opening doors to opportunities that might otherwise have felt out of reach.
Through her leadership, Asha established the Takeover Program, which continues to run in Canberra and expanded to Melbourne in 2025. She also founded and spearheaded the Women in Strategic Policy (WISP) program in collaboration with ANU, creating more opportunities for young women to engage with strategic policy. Beyond Australia, Asha co-led the first Australian Youth Statement to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women with the Persephone Network and led CSW delegations, helping open doors for GRTW participants to engage with the UN and have their voices heard on the international stage.
We’re incredibly grateful for the time, energy, care and belief Asha has poured into GRTW, and for the community she has worked so hard to build.
As she begins a new chapter, we’re also incredibly proud to celebrate Asha being awarded the Governor Philip Scholarship to pursue a Master of Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford.
From all of us on the team, and from every participant who has been part of this community, thank you, Asha, for everything you have built, the doors you have opened, and the young women you have inspired and will continue to inspire.
We wish you all the very best for this next chapter. We can’t wait to see where it takes you.
