🍂🎃 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY! 💚

Halloween costumes, cooler temperatures, shorter days, and daylight saving time… FALL is bringing ALL the changes! 🍁⏰

But did you know that even small changes in routines can have a BIG impact on children, especially those who have experienced trauma?

As we head into the weekend, here are a few gentle reminders:

🎃 Halloween: Not every child enjoys scary costumes, loud noises, or crowded activities. Give them choices and let them enjoy the holiday at their own pace.

⏰ Fall Back: Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour this Sunday, November 1! Changes in sleep schedules can lead to some extra emotions and challenging behaviors. A little patience goes a long way!

🍂 Seasonal Changes: Cooler weather and shorter days mean more time indoors. Make room for movement, family activities, and opportunities to connect.

💚 Emotional Wellness: Sometimes what looks like a difficult behavior is really a child having a difficult time. Connection, consistency, and understanding can make all the difference.

❤️ To our foster parents: You are doing more than providing a home. You’re providing stability, comfort, and safety in a world that hasn’t always felt predictable.

And remember, taking care of YOURSELF matters, too!

As the seasons change, let’s remember that a little extra patience, love, and understanding can make a BIG difference in the life of a child. 🫶🏼

🌸 Self-Care for a Good Cause! 💗

Today, our Benchmark Family Services - Terre Haute, Indiana team had the opportunity to take a little time for self-care while supporting a cause that is close to our hearts. 💙

We want to extend a very special THANK YOU to Shakara for providing our team with a wonderful facial experience and creating an opportunity for us to give back to a family in need.

What makes today even more meaningful is that this self-care event is part of a fundraiser benefiting the Evans family. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference, and we are grateful to be able to contribute to something so special.

We are incredibly thankful for our dedicated team, including Sara, Bailey, Grace, Jamie C., Jamie Lynn, Robin, and Kristina. The work we do in therapeutic foster care requires compassion, patience, and a whole lot of heart. Taking time to care for ourselves allows us to continue showing up for the children and families who depend on us. 💙

💙🌿 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: IT TAKES A VILLAGE! 🌿💙

Y’all, I just have to brag on our Benchmark foster families for a minute! 🥹💙

Last night, our foster parent group was full of laughter, silly videos, stories, and sweet memories being made. And I couldn’t help but sit back and think… THIS. This is why we do what we do!

Foster care isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. There are hard days, big emotions, and moments that require more patience than we knew we had. But there is also SO much JOY, love, laughter, and belonging!

And let me tell you, we have one HECK of a village! 🫶🏼

I’m incredibly proud of our foster families and the hearts they pour into caring for children. They don’t just open their homes. They show up, support one another, celebrate the little victories, and create spaces where kids can just be KIDS! 💙
