Indiana has come a long way in protecting life — but the work is far from over.

While abortion clinics are closed and abortions have dropped dramatically, Indiana Right to Life continues to face legal challenges and the growing threat of abortion drugs being mailed into our state.

WVRTL proudly supports Indiana Right to Life, and we invite you to give to their Year-End Giving Campaign to help sustain this critical work.

Indiana Right to Life Issues Statement on Governor Braun's New Executive Order Today

INDIANAPOLIS (March 3, 2025) — Indiana Right to Life President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Fichter issued the following statement today regarding Governor Mike Braun’s executive order boosting state employees by strengthening paid parental leave, creating paid childbirth leave for women recovering from giving birth, and establishing paid leave for those grieving from the tragedy of losing a baby.

“Indiana is exemplifying a culture of life. Governor Braun’s executive order today affirms that the Hoosier culture prioritizes families, parents and children. These enhanced benefits for state employees is a significant step in Indiana being an example in compassionate support for pregnant mothers and their babies, including those suffering the loss of a baby’s life before birth. This is an important addition to Indiana's larger effort to give pregnant mothers and their babies the support they need to thrive. We encourage all Hoosier employers to follow the state’s lead in providing greater support for moms and babies. ”

Indiana Right to Life Issues Statement on Governor Braun’s Executive Order Signed Today

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 22, 2025) — Indiana Right to Life President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Fichter issued the following statement today regarding Governor Mike Braun’s executive order directing the Indiana Department of Health to ensure compliance with Indiana abortion laws.

“Governor Braun’s action today ensures Indiana’s abortion law will be enforced under his administration. In directing the Indiana Department of Health to ensure compliance with pro-life laws, including reporting laws, abortion providers are on notice that there is no tolerance in Indiana for illegal abortions, or acts leading to the injury or deaths of women. We are thankful for Governor Braun’s swift and decisive move in support of Indiana’s law that has ended 98% of abortions in our state.”

We are thrilled to announce Melissa Coles as the distinguished speaker for Wabash Valley Right to Life's annual benefit dinner. Melissa's powerful testimony inspired the box office hit and now international movie, LIFEMARK, which originated from the documentary “I Lived on Parker Avenue” where she reunites with her birth son 19 years after he was placed for adoption. Through her unique perspective as a birthmother, Melissa shares the raw, unfiltered truth of the adoption option, revealing the perfectly imperfect beauty of this selfless act. Her story, a secret for 19 years even from her closest family members, highlights the critical moments that led to her choosing adoption and how her birth son narrowly escaped non-existence. Melissa's profound heart for God and people shines through her speaking engagements as she supports families in unplanned pregnancies, raises support for pregnancy centers and maternity homes, and speaks for various nonprofit organizations, schools, and churches. With cameo appearances in LIFEMARK rekindling her passion for acting, Melissa now thrives in the film industry and is in the process of writing her autobiography and launching her nonprofit ministry, Life Stories Matter. She believes that sharing your story is the first step to healing, and we are honored to have her share hers with us.

Thank you, Rachel and Debbie, for speaking up for life. They clearly represented that the pro-life cause does not end when babies are born. There is still work to be done to educate society that the pre-born are people and that pro-life organizations are here to support both the child and their mother.

The U.S. Supreme Court's potential overturning of Roe v. Wade has stirred strong passions nationwide, especially on the part of those who say their right to privacy and bodily autonomy
