The Terre Haute Community Band performs free band concerts in Fairbanks Park during June, July and August. Each concert provides a variety of types of music with a central theme. ch concert is usually in conjunction with the Vigo County Public Library Big Read program. Admission is charged at Sinfonietta concerts:$10 adults, $5 students and children 10 and under are free.

The Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra will present its pre-Christmas concert Saturday, November 18th at 2:00 p.m. in the Conservatory of Music Building at Saint Mary-of-the Woods College. The concert, Miracles of Midwinter, combines a mix of classical, traditional and more contemporary Christmas music. The Nutcracker by P.I. Tchaikovsky, White Christmas by Irving Berlin, O Holy Night and Variations on Joy to the World are among the selections.

Music Director James N. Chesterson notes that concert prices have not changed: Adults $10, Students $5 and children 10 and under free admission. A custom established several years ago will be continued this year as the Sinfonietta asks that anyone attending the concert please bring a pair of new socks that the Sinfonietta can give to community organizations that assist people in need at Christmas time.

Our Story

The Terre Haute Community Band performs free band concerts in Fairbanks Park during June, July and August. Except for July 4th all concerts are held on Saturdays and usually begin at 8:00 p.m. Each concert provides a variety of types of music with a central theme. A special Childreb’s Concert is scheduled in June and the “On the Banks of the Wabash” Community Band Festival is held the last Saturday of the city Banks of the Wabash.Festival. The Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra presents four concerts per year in the Cecilian Auditorium at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. The first fall concert is scheduled in October; followed by the Christmas concert the Saturday before Thanksgiving in November. The Christmas program features a visit from St. Nicholas, free refreshments and gifts for the children. Spring concerts are scheduled in March and April. The March concert is usually in conjunction with the Vigo County Public Library Big Read program. All Sinfonietta concerts begin at 2:00 p.m. Admission is charged at these events.
