United Way of the Wabash Valley (UWWV) announces a new grant opportunity to prepare children in the Wabash Valley to be Kindergarten ready. Whether through your own organization or by connecting with organizations in your community, we encourage you to support the United Way's efforts by sharing this information. Your assistance helps expand our reach and strengthen the impact we can make together in the community.
The “Kindergarten Readiness" investment makes funds available to eligible applicants who seek to expand capacity of childcare/early learning and other programs that support Kindergarten readiness. Applicants may use the funds to aid in preparing children for Kindergarten. Possible funding could be made available to improve early learning programs, childcare licensing, professional development, parent education, or programs that provide early literacy, all of which support children’s Kindergarten readiness.
Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, nonprofit organizations, faith-based and community-based organizations, educational institutions, units of local government, childcare centers, preschools and pre-kindergarten programs, and family support organizations.
United Way is making available $80,000 for this investment. These grant funds are intended for targeted, time-sensitive funding needs that can be expended in one year, with awards ranging from $1,000 up to $10,000. Eligible activities may include training, education, technical assistance, and capacity-building efforts that increase the ability of parents, caregivers, educators, childcare providers, and organizations to support children's Kindergarten readiness.
United Way invites applications from all of its’ six-county service area (Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion, or Vigo Counties in Indiana or in Clark County, Illinois). The “Kindergarten Readiness” investment aligns with United Way’s long-term goal to create lasting solutions to our greatest challenges. United Way envisions a thriving, inspired community focused on care and collaboration. We pursue this by investing financial resources in entities that measurably impact youth opportunity, financial security, and healthy communities, thus improving lives and breaking the cycle of generational poverty.
