Spokane Helpers Network

Spokane Helpers Network An all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization, we support low-income homebound residents of greater Spokane. We also deliver hygiene products and provide bus fare.

Our volunteers deliver food to people who find it difficult to access food banks. Individuals and families may join a private Facebook group, called Help Yourself. There, they can access information on resources to meet their needs. Examples of resources are food banks, rental assistance programs, and free community events. When members of the Facebook group cannot find resources to meet their bas

ic needs, they are encouraged to contact the Spokane Helpers Network. Our volunteers can help with locating resources and/or delivering needed items.

HOW DO WE EXPECT HUNGRY KIDS TO DO WELL IN SCHOOL?

Our mission is driven by the alarming statistic that 1 in 5 of our kids does not get enough to eat.

Longitudinal data suggest that children’s learning outcomes suffer when they regularly experience hunger and that nearly every aspect of physical and mental function is hurt as well. Food insecurity affects concentration, memory, mood, and motor skills, all of which a child needs to be able to be successful in school. (Source: No Kid Hungry)
