☀️🌡️ HELP US KEEP SENIORS COOL THIS SUMMER! 🌡️☀️

As temperatures begin to rise across the Inland Northwest, many of the seniors we serve face a difficult reality: staying cool can be expensive, and for some, it simply isn't possible without help.

That's why Meals on Wheels Spokane is once again holding our Summer Fan Drive!

We're collecting new box fans and financial donations to help provide relief to vulnerable seniors during the hottest months of the year. For many homebound older adults, a fan isn't just a comfort—it's a lifeline.

❤️ You can help by:
✅ Donating a new box fan
✅ Making a financial contribution toward fan purchases
✅ Sharing this post with friends and family

Every fan donated helps ensure that a senior can remain safer and more comfortable in their home this summer.

Together, we can continue Feeding Bodies, Nurturing Souls, and Saving Lives—even when the temperatures soar.

Thank you for helping us bring a little breeze, a little comfort, and a lot of kindness to our neighbors in need. 💙

🎬🍿 LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! 🍿🎬

The next edition of Senior Cinema at the Garland Theater is rolling onto the big screen on Monday, June 2nd, and this month's feature is the hilarious Man of the Year starring the one and only Robin Williams!

Join us for an afternoon of laughs, friendship, and classic movie theater magic.

🎟 Doors Open: 12:30 PM
🎥 Movie Begins: 1:00 PM

Senior Cinema is specially designed for community members age 60 and better, along with their caregivers. It's a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a great film, connect with friends, and experience one of Spokane's most beloved theaters.

Want the best deal in town? Our Annual Senior Cinema Pass is just $5.00 and includes admission to our monthly Senior Cinema showings PLUS Sunday movies at the Garland Theater all year long!

And while you're there, do yourself a favor and grab some of the Garland's famous 509 Popcorn. Trust us... the movie is great, but the popcorn is legendary! 🍿❤️

We'll see you at the movies!

🎥 Senior Cinema is brought to you by Mid-City Senior Center and our friends at the Garland Theater, helping keep our community connected one movie at a time.

Last night’s windstorm left damage across our community, including fallen trees and unsafe conditions for many of our neighbors. As we begin cleaning up today, we encourage everyone to take a few moments to check in on those around you, especially seniors, individuals with limited mobility, and anyone who may be isolated. ❤️

A simple phone call, knock on the door, or offer to help clear debris can make all the difference.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers at Meals on Wheels Spokane will be checking in on the seniors we serve to make sure they are safe and supported. But this is one of those moments when community matters most. If we all work together, we can help ensure nobody faces the aftermath of the storm alone.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we care.

When we say it takes a community to care for our seniors — we mean it. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to Andy and Brenda from Horizon Credit Union for stopping by Meals on Wheels Spokane with brand-new fans for our Summer Fan Drive AND an incredible donation of food for our emergency food pantry. But wait… it gets even better . They’ve committed to continuing these donations all summer long! ☀️🌀🥫

Horizon Credit Union truly is part of the fabric of our Spokane community. Time and time again, when there is a need, they step up and deliver with compassion, generosity, and heart.

Their mission is centered around “helping members improve their financial health and well-being,” and they clearly extend that care far beyond banking by investing directly into the lives of local seniors.

Because of community partners like Horizon Credit Union, we can continue Feeding Bodies, Nurturing Souls, and Saving Lives.

Thank you for helping us keep our seniors cool, nourished, and cared for this summer. 💛

☀️🌬️ Our Annual Fan Drive is Back and thanks to YOUR incredible generosity last summer, we’re already starting the season with fans ready to help keep local seniors cool!

How cool is that? (See what we did there?) 😎

As temperatures begin to rise, many of the homebound seniors we serve struggle to stay safe and comfortable during the summer heat. A simple fan can make a world of difference providing relief, comfort, and helping prevent heat-related illness.

There are THREE easy ways you can help support our 2026 Fan Drive:

🌬️ Option 1: Purchase a new, unopened fan and drop it off at:
📍 Meals on Wheels Spokane
1222 W 2nd Avenue

(Please note: we are unable to accept air conditioning units.)

📦 Option 2: Purchase a fan directly from our Amazon Wish List and have it shipped straight to us.

❤️ Option 3: Make a monetary donation and we will purchase a fan on your behalf and have one of our amazing volunteers deliver it directly to a homebound senior.

Together, we can help keep our seniors cool, safe, healthy, and cared for this summer. 💙

Sunday reminds us that a simple visit can mean everything. 💜

For many of the seniors we serve, a Meals on Wheels delivery is more than just a nutritious meal, it’s a friendly face, a quick conversation, and a reminder that someone cares.

Every weekday, our volunteers help deliver nourishment, safety checks, and connection throughout the Spokane community. We are so grateful for the people who give their time to make that possible.

Want to make a difference in just about an hour? Consider joining our volunteer team.

Together, we deliver so much more than a meal. 🚗🥗
