We’re sorry to share that today’s Garland Theater movie at 12:30 p.m. has been CANCELLED.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, especially to those who were looking forward to an afternoon at the movies with us. ❤️

But don’t worry, we promise to make it up to you in October! 🎥🍿

📧 A little technology trouble is slowing us down today… but it isn’t stopping us.

Many of our Meals on Wheels Spokane staff members have been affected by the current Microsoft/Outlook issue, which means some of us are temporarily without access to email.

So, if you’ve emailed someone at Meals on Wheels Spokane and haven’t heard back, please know we are not ignoring you. We simply may not be able to see your message right now. We’ll respond as soon as our inboxes return from their little vacation.

Looking at this photo today, we couldn't help but think…

Maybe Microsoft has decided it’s time for Meals on Wheels to go back to the 1950s. 😂

No email.
No Outlook.
No Teams.
Just phones, paper, pencils… and apparently a LOT more patience.

But you know what? Our mission hasn't gone anywhere. ❤️

Our kitchen is still cooking.
Our volunteers are still delivering.
Our seniors are still being served.
And our team is still doing what we do every day:

Feeding Bodies, Nurturing Souls, and Saving Lives.

We appreciate your patience while Microsoft works this out. And if you’ve sent us an email today, please don’t give up on us! We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

600+ reasons to keep showing up. ❤️

Every day, more than 600 meals leave our kitchen and make their way to the homes of seniors throughout our community.

But behind every meal is a person.

A person who deserves to eat well.
A person who deserves to remain independent.
A person who deserves to know that someone cares.

For our volunteers, it may be one stop on a route.

For the senior waiting at the door, it can be the most important visit of the day.

That’s the heart of Meals on Wheels Spokane.

Today is National Dog Day, and around here, that’s definitely something worth celebrating! 🐾❤️

For the seniors we serve, pets aren’t “just pets.” They’re companions, comfort, a reason to smile and sometimes the best part of the day.

That’s why Meals on Wheels Spokane cares about the whole household. Through our For Paws Sake program, we provide pet food and supplies to seniors who may have difficulty affording them. And through our partnership with SpokAnimal C.A.R.E., we have Nose to Toes, which provides veterinary care and wellness services.

Because when we help keep a senior’s best friend healthy, happy and by their side, we’re doing more than feeding bodies, we’re nurturing souls and saving lives. 🐶🐾

Today, we're thinking about Dolly Parton.

Dolly had a special way of making people feel seen. She understood that sometimes the greatest gift we can give another person is simply showing up.

She once surprised a group of seniors at a community center in her hometown, spending time with them, laughing and celebrating the things that brought them together. A small gesture from a very big star and one that meant so much.

At Meals on Wheels Spokane, we believe in the power of showing up, too.

Every weekday, our volunteers knock on doors with a warm meal, a friendly smile and a few moments of connection. For some of our homebound neighbors, that visit is one of the most important parts of their day.

So today, we'll keep doing what Dolly did so beautifully: showing up, spreading a little kindness and reminding people that they matter.

Rest easy, Dolly. And thank you for reminding us that love is something we do. 💗

So today, take a minute to check in on someone.

📞 Call your mom, dad, grandparent, or neighbor.
☕ Invite someone for coffee.
🚪 Stop by for a visit.
💬 Send a text just to say, “I was thinking about you.”

You never know how much that small gesture might mean.
