Twenty-four years ago, Dave teed up an idea that would become one of Spokane's most impactful charity golf tournaments. Thanks to his vision, dedication, and a whole lot of heart, the Cotton Classic Charity Golf Tournament has raised nearly $2 million to help Meals on Wheels Spokane feed bodies, nurture souls, and save lives.

That's not just a great round, that's a legacy.

Dave, your commitment to our seniors has been nothing short of championship caliber. Because of your leadership, thousands of homebound seniors have received nutritious meals, friendly visits, and the support they need to remain independent.

For many of the homebound seniors we serve, air conditioning isn’t an option. A new fan can provide comfort, improve safety, and make those scorching summer days much more bearable.

🎉🎂 Help Us Wish a Very Happy (Belated) Birthday to Rhonda! 🎂🎉

Yesterday was the birthday of a very special member of the Meals on Wheels Spokane family, Ms. Rhonda! ❤️

If you've ever met Rhonda, you know she's pretty much the "Mom" of our organization. Whether she's caring for our seniors or supporting our staff, she has a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved.

As an assistant in our Care Management Department, Rhonda helps oversee many of the special programs that bring joy to the seniors we serve. From birthday bags and Christmas gifts to countless thoughtful touches throughout the year, she helps create moments that remind our clients they are cared for by a community that truly loves them.

Outside of work, Rhonda is a proud grandma to Crew, has a well-known love for pickles, and brings kindness, laughter, and compassion to everyone she meets. She's also an absolute joy to work with, and we're so grateful to have her on our team.

Every weekday, our team and volunteers deliver more than 600 freshly prepared meals, but what they're really delivering is independence, dignity, and hope.

🐶 Nose to Toes – Our partnership with Spokanimal helps seniors access veterinary care for their beloved pets, because healthy pets help keep seniors healthy too.

📚 Fresh Reads – Delivering books directly to homebound seniors, bringing entertainment, education, and companionship through reading.

🏠 Care Management & Resource Navigation – Connecting seniors with services and resources that help them remain safe and independent.

🎉 Mid-City Senior Center – Offering fitness classes, games, educational programs, social activities, and nutritious lunches that keep our community active and engaged.

🚗 Home-Delivered Meals – Freshly prepared meals delivered with a friendly smile and a wellness check by caring volunteers.

A simple knock on the door can mean so much.

Every weekday, Meals on Wheels Spokane volunteers deliver more than a meal. They bring a friendly face, a wellness check, and a reminder that someone cares.

For many of the seniors we serve, these brief visits are an important connection to the community. A nutritious meal helps keep them healthy, while the personal interaction helps reduce feelings of isolation.

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers who show up day after day, rain or shine, to help older adults remain independent in their own homes. Your kindness makes a difference with every delivery. ❤️

June is National Pet Awareness Month, and at Meals on Wheels Spokane, we celebrate the incredible bond between the seniors we serve and their beloved pets. For many older adults, a dog or cat isn't "just a pet", they're family, a constant companion, a source of comfort, and often the reason they get up each morning.

Take someone like Mary. She lives alone, but every morning she's greeted by the happy tail wags of her faithful dog. On difficult days, he's her best listener. On lonely days, he's her best friend. The thought of not being able to feed or care for him would be heartbreaking.

That's why we take a holistic approach to senior wellness.

🐶 For Paws Sake provides supplemental pet food and supplies so seniors never have to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their furry family members.

🐱 Nose to Toes, our first-of-its-kind partnership with Spokanimal, provides basic veterinary care to the pets of the seniors we serve, helping keep these precious companions healthy and together with the people who love them.

When we care for a senior's pet, we're caring for the senior too. We're reducing stress, preserving companionship, and protecting one of the most important relationships in their lives.
