This week on JJ’s Journey, we’re delivering meals and connection!

JJ connected with Executive Director Brenda Eastman to learn more about the impact of Meals on Wheels, then joined Community Outreach Director McKenna Benson on route to deliver meals to local seniors and see firsthand how Meals on Wheels helps nourish our community, one delivery at a time. Because sometimes, a meal is about so much more than what’s on the menu. It’s connection, compassion and a reminder that someone cares. 🫶

From conversations shaping our region’s future to connections strengthening it, this week was all about collaboration, leadership, and moving Spokane forward.

Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

🏛️ We welcomed Senator Patty Murray to meet with regional business and industry leaders, discussing the biggest opportunities and challenges facing Spokane. We had representatives from healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, transportation, energy, agriculture, and tourism at the table.

🤝 Peer Networking at the DoubleTree by Hilton Spokane City Center with our nonprofit spotlight of the month: Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington We made connections, built relationships, and created opportunities to grow together!

🚦 SRTC Transportation Summit: We heard from multiple experts about transportation priorities and infrastructure investments that will shape our region’s future. Spokane Regional Transportation Council

💡 In collaboration with StartUp Spokane, we hosted this month's JumpStart event. This was an interactive workshop with TrustBuilder that helped local professionals build stronger relationships and sharpen their professional skills.

🎓 Whitworth University President’s Leadership Forum. We were proud to serve as the executive partner for this conversation with Jon Meacham which centered on leadership.

September was a busy one at GSI!

From bringing regional leaders together for the 2026 State of the County to connecting with members at Peer Networking and Coffee & Connect, September was full of conversations, collaboration and opportunities to move our region forward.

We also welcomed new members to the GSI community, celebrated milestones with Spokane REALTORS®, brought regional business leaders together for an important conversation on the U.S.–Canada economic relationship, hosted a Relational Sales Workshop, advocated for federal research funding in Washington, D.C., and celebrated the release of our 2026–27 Connect Magazine.

At the heart of it all is what makes our region stronger: people showing up, building relationships and working together.

Thank you to our members, partners, sponsors, speakers, community leaders and everyone who helped make September such a full and meaningful month,.
