Growth requires energy⚡

As the Spokane Region continues to grow, energy will play a major role in shaping what’s possible for our economy, businesses, and future workforce.

Join us for the 2026 Economic Update: State of Energy featuring:
⚡ Heather Rosentrater, President & CEO, Avista Utilities (Keynote Speaker & Panelist)
⚡ Terry Judge, CEO, Hotstart Inc (Panelist)
⚡ Representative Suzanne Schmidt, District 4 (Panelist)
⚡ Paul Read, Publisher, Spokane Journal of Business (Moderator)

Together, these leaders will explore what Spokane must do to ensure energy supports growth instead of slowing it down.

This is a critical conversation worth having, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

When you bring people together, good things happen.

That is what GSI’s Coffee & Connect events are all about. We aim to create space to connect, build relationships, and shine a light on people doing meaningful work in our community.

We loved partnering with Family Promise of Spokane today, whose mission is simple and powerful: equipping families & communities to end the cycle of homelessness, because every child deserves a home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Yesterday’s ribbon cutting for Washington Trust Bank newest downtown Spokane branch was more than a celebration. It was a strong vote of confidence in the future of downtown from one of our region’s most respected and longstanding institutions.

Many community leaders joined to celebrate this exciting investment at 1st and Wall and what it represents for Spokane’s continued momentum.

At a time when residents continue to emphasize the importance of a thriving downtown, moments like this matter. Revitalization takes investment, collaboration, and people willing to believe in what Spokane can become.

Congratulations to the entire Washington Trust Bank team on this exciting new chapter for downtown Spokane.

Last Thursday, we were proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting for Friends of the Children - Eastern Washington and officially welcome them as a new nonprofit member of Greater Spokane Incorporated.

Their long-term commitment to supporting youth and families across our region will make a lasting impact in Eastern Washington, and we’re excited to have them as part of the GSI community.

Congratulations to Jesse Zumbro and the entire team on this exciting milestone. We look forward to the important work ahead.

Showing up for our region doesn’t stop at city or state lines. Spokane took the conversation to Capitol Hill🇺🇸

Last week, GSI partners joined regional leaders in Washington, D.C. to advocate for priorities that matter to our economy and our community—from infrastructure and workforce to healthcare, trade, and competitiveness.

We met directly with members of our congressional delegation to ensure that policymakers hear firsthand about the unique opportunities and challenges facing our region.

A special thank you to our presenting sponsor, MultiCare Health System, for supporting this work and helping elevate Spokane’s voice. 👏

Yesterday, we hosted our 2026 Legislative Wrap-Up, presented by STCU. We were joined by Senator Marcus Riccelli, Rep. Hunter Abell, Rep. Tim Ormsby, and Rep. Suzanne Schmidt. The panel was moderated by our state lobbyist Jim Hedrick.

The panel gave their insight into what happened in Olympia this legislative session and what they want to see happen next. They discussed income tax, data centers, budgets and funding, transportation, and more.

It was inspiring to see elected officials from different districts and parties discuss opportunities and issues together. We are all working toward the goal of a better and thriving Spokane region.

If you want to learn more about what happened this legislative session, take a look at Jim Hedrick’s report here: https://greaterspokane.org/public-policy/legislative-session-final-report/

Millions in local impact. One iconic Spokane tradition. 👟

Bloomsday isn’t just a Spokane tradition, it’s an economic engine. With the 50th anniversary this Sunday expected to draw 40,000+ participants, Bloomsday is projected to generate $17–19 million in regional economic impact, supporting local hotels, restaurants, retailers, and small businesses.

From visitors filling downtown to volunteers powering one of Spokane’s signature events, Bloomsday shows how major events move our economy forward.

Good luck to all participants! 👉 Let us know in the comments if you're doing Bloomsday this year!
