Thank you to everyone who joined us for A Night of Resistance. ❤️

Together, we experienced deeply moving performances, and sang along in celebration, resilience, and community. We also had the opportunity to hear directly from each of the Spokane 3, whose words reminded us why solidarity and collective action matter.

To everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, donated, or helped make the evening possible: thank you. Your support helps sustain this work and reminds the Spokane 3 that they are not facing this alone.

No one should have to face the immigration system alone.

Join Refugee and Immigrant Connections Spokane, Manzanita House, and PJALS for an Accompaniment Training and learn how to support immigrant and refugee community members during court hearings, immigration appointments, and detention-related proceedings.

This free training will prepare volunteers to offer compassionate, in-person support rooted in dignity, solidarity, and justice. Completing the training makes you eligible to join the Accompaniment Program, but there’s no obligation to volunteer.

Join PJALS and Washington Neighborhood Defense (WAND) for an Anti-ICE Workplace Rights Canvassing Training & Canvass.

Learn how to:
📄 Share Know Your Rights resources with local workplaces
💬 Practice conversations with workers and business owners
🤝 Strengthen Spokane’s rapid response network

Then we’ll head out together to canvass workplaces across Spokane County and put those skills into practice.

Already attended a WAND training? Come back! We’ve updated the curriculum and added more opportunities to practice canvassing.

Happy Juneteenth!

Today we honor Juneteenth—the day news of emancipation finally reached enslaved people in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a celebration of Black freedom, resilience, culture, and community, while also reminding us that the work of building justice and liberation continues.

Yesterday, June 11, marks the 1 year anniversary of the June 11, 2025 anti-ICE protest outside of the ICE facility in Spokane, Washington. A call out was made to show up in support of two young asylum seekers who were illegally detained by ICE and being transported to a Tacoma detention center. The community responded in acts of nonviolent civil disobedience and were met with unjust, violent repression by the Spokane Police Department, ICE, and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Upwards of 30 protesters were arrested, booked, and jailed for exercising their 1st amendment rights and subsequently, one month later, the Spokane 9 were arrested by federal officers and hit with federal charges.

Today, as we await the final verdict and the fate of the Spokane 3— who were recently found guilty by a jury for conspiracy and aiding and abetting charges, facing up to 6 years in prison— we reflect on the harm done to our communities and the time wasted in a shameful act of repression by our government led by a fascist Trump regime. We also take this time to come together to fight for our rights.
