From our playground to theirs. 💜

After BAWSI Girls had the chance to play alongside the Bay FC team on our playground, it was special to watch them take the field on theirs.

Two weeks ago, the entire Bay FC team joined us on a BAWSI playground, playing alongside our BAWSI Girls.

Last Sunday, some of those same girls and their families were in the stands cheering as the women who had been on their playground took the field in the NWSL.

They can see her. They can be her.

After cheering on Bay FC this weekend, we’re taking it back to where the fun started: the BAWSI playground.

Together with our participants, Athlete Leader Coaches, alumni, volunteers, partners, and supporters, we continue to create opportunities for more children and youth to play, lead, and succeed.

Leadership and empowerment do not stop on school playgrounds. The playgrounds just get bigger.

Today, the BAWSI team had our first-ever golf clinic at Pruneridge Golf Club Pruneridge Golf Club. ⛳

Girls who play become women who lead. We continue to learn together beyond the office by creating opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence, and support one another.

We came ready to learn, stayed coachable, and had a lot of fun along the way.

As we celebrate the anniversary of Title IX, we are reminded that progress is driven by people who challenge barriers and create opportunities for the next generation.

Thank you to Bay Area Soccer Legacy host Laurence Scott for weaving together the stories of Amy Love, Marlene Bjornsrud, and Brandi Chastain, from the landmark Love v. California Youth Soccer Association case to the growth of girls’ and women’s soccer in the Bay Area and the founding of BAWSI.

Marlene reflects, the Bay Area has always had a unique “vibration” of reaching for what’s next. At BAWSI, we see that spirit every day as girls discover confidence, leadership, and belonging through sport.
