BAWSI's first-ever Community Play Day!

This event is free to attend, and everyone is welcome. People of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and experiences with sport will come together through play, inclusive games, and leadership activities. BAWSI Athlete Leadership Team Coaches and volunteers will lead activities and play, showcasing the power of our incredible women's sports community right here in the Bay Area.

Santa Clara University will provide free tickets for all Community Play Day attendees to Saturday, November 7th Bronco Women's Volleyball and Women’s Soccer games at 1:00pm.

A milestone moment for BAWSI: we've just enrolled our 30,000th participant.

This milestone lands as we begin our 22nd year of programming, now serving 22 schools across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, with BAWSI alumni now leading in their communities and paving the way for the next generation.

BAWSI is honored to be recognized by the Bay Area Host Committee with the 2026 Community Impact Award, presented by Prologis.

This award belongs to our founders, staff, coaches, Board, advisors, volunteers, and partners. Most of all, it belongs to the thousands of girls from under-resourced neighborhoods and children with disabilities who have stepped onto a BAWSI playground and discovered that they belong.

Thank you to the Bay Area Host Committee for the work you do to unite the Bay Area through sport, to Prologis for this recognition, and to PNC for supporting these awards and so many local organizations, including BAWSI.

From our playground to theirs. 💜

After BAWSI Girls had the chance to play alongside the Bay FC team on our playground, it was special to watch them take the field on theirs.

Two weeks ago, the entire Bay FC team joined us on a BAWSI playground, playing alongside our BAWSI Girls.

Last Sunday, some of those same girls and their families were in the stands cheering as the women who had been on their playground took the field in the NWSL.

They can see her. They can be her.

Please join us during the final day of fan voting for Hannah Bebar for the NWSL Lauren Holiday Fan Impact Challenge presented by Nationwide and help give more girls the opportunity to play, lead, and succeed!

This past year, 2,116 children and youth experienced the joy of play, the power of belonging, and the confidence to lead. Together with our participants, Athlete Leader Coaches, alumni, volunteers, partners, and supporters, we continue to create opportunities for more children and youth to play, lead, and succeed.

As we celebrate the anniversary of Title IX, we are reminded that progress is driven by people who challenge barriers and create opportunities for the next generation.

Thank you to Bay Area Soccer Legacy host Laurence Scott for weaving together the stories of Amy Love, Marlene Bjornsrud, and Brandi Chastain, from the landmark Love v. California Youth Soccer Association case to the growth of girls’ and women’s soccer in the Bay Area and the founding of BAWSI.

Marlene reflects, the Bay Area has always had a unique “vibration” of reaching for what’s next. At BAWSI, we see that spirit every day as girls discover confidence, leadership, and belonging through sport.
