🐋 Meet CHUNK - the whale! If you want to meet CHUNK in person, come out to our event September 8th at Wex in support of Marine Mammals of Maine. Chunk is a 43-foot life-sized, inflatable humpback whale complete with features like baleen (instead of teeth), tongue, jaw bones, brain, blowhole, heart, lungs, three-chamber stomach, rib cage, spine and intestines.

Did the seals catch your attention? 🦭 Our next event is Tuesday, September 8th at Wex, featuring Marine Mammals of Maine! More info coming soon (including an exciting surprise!) For now, please enjoy these seal photos and learn a little about MMOM:

Marine Mammals of Maine responds to stranded marine mammals (seals, whales, dolphins, porpoises) and sea turtles from Rockland to Kittery, Maine, including outer islands. This area of coastline is approximately 2,500 miles.

They have a 24/7 year-round toll-free hotline (1-800-532-9551) available for anyone to use to report a stranding to an experienced staff member. Save the number in your phone!

In a typical year they receive thousands of calls to their hotline, representing nearly 400 individual animals. The majority of these cases are seals and over half of the admits to their seal rehabilitation facility have had some form of human interaction. Help us spread the word about how to safely share the shore with seals!
