See you tomorrow in Waldoboro!

This is just a reminder that Pleasant Street between Marble Avenue and Main St. will be closed from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, for 4th Annual Waldoboro Pride ~ Free Meal and Activities. There is parking behind the library, and down the hill in the Kuhn and Wooster lots, as well as some on street parking.

Please remove your cars from Pleasant Street by noon so we can set up for the fair from 1-3 p.m. We have permission from WPD to close the street. Any car left behind may get bubble fluid on it and will be stuck there until 4 p.m.

This is a family-friendly event and most of the day's activities are free. You can go visit our great friends Perch Cafe and Bakery and have a percentage of your purchase go to Queerly ME. You can visit some of those who are helping make this happen, including Day Boat Cafe , Holmes + Hudson Collective , and Lakin's Gorges Cheese. If you need a screen door, by all means, please visit Wooden Screen Door Co. (I have four of their fabulous doors!).

At Broad Bay we will have a free luncheon -- think of it as a potluck with comfort foods like mac'n'cheese and peanut butter for the kids, chicken sliders, meatballs, salads, taco in a crock, etc. We won't really know until tomorrow :-)

Outside we will have several tables that include activities. Expect to see Healthy Lincoln County, Sweetser's Support ME Peer Center, EqualityMaine among others.

Activities are simple, but fun: an open mic (1-2 p.m.), line dancing (2-2:30), a bounce house for the kids, a gem hunt, a community banner project to add your art to, sidewalk chalk, big bubbles, make and take beadables.

The raffle drawing is at 2:45. We do this in a unique way. Everyone who comes to the welcome table get's a free ticket. Those who wish to buy more can get 1 for $1 of 6 for $5. The prizes include homemade Pride flag/heart theme lap blanket by Bethany Hull, a lovely gift set from Holmes & Hudson , a Broad Bay cookbook with a selection of Lakin's Gorges Cheese, two pet-friendly tote bags from The Animal House, and a big red beach tote with kids in mind (plush rainbow, kites, flying discs, sidewalk chalk, markers, etc.). The first person who's ticket is drawn, chooses first. The next chooses from what is left. That continues until the 6th person gets the remaining prize.

At 3 p.m., can you can walk right across Main Street and go to The Waldo Theatre which is hosting the fabulous Maine Gay Men's Chorus. This is a chance to sit, relax, and enjoy music for about 45 minutes. Pay what you can, but just go. Everyone is welcome.

Right next door at The Waldoboro Inn, there is the third annual Tea Dance with three fabulous DJs, free entry, and free non-alcoholic beverages. You can dance the night away at Ida's Wine Bar and in the garden if weather permits. This event is also suitable for all ages.

All of our events are meant to be accessible, family-friendly, and just plain inclusive. We are celebrating community, friendship, family, and belonging. We hope to see you there.
