🚒 Engine 16 in the Community! 🧯

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Engine 16 had a great time visiting with the students of Hope Academy in Wilkinsburg! Firefighters gave the kids an up-close look at the engine, introduced them to some of our equipment, and talked about the important work firefighters do every day.

We always enjoy opportunities to connect with the next generation! 👨‍🚒❤️🚒

Today, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire welcomed members of the Citizens Fire Academy for hands-on training focused on Hazardous Materials response.

Participants worked with Engine 37, the HazMat Spill Truck, and Fireboat 1, learning about the specialized equipment, operations, and tactics used during both land and water based hazardous materials incidents.

A great opportunity to get an up-close look at the training, equipment, and capabilities of Pittsburgh’s firefighters! 🚒⚓️🔥

As Pittsburgh faces significant financial pressures heading into the 2027 budget, City Controller Rachael Heisler makes an important point about where our priorities must remain:

“The city needs to focus deliberately on core services: our exceptional public safety, our parks that attract and retain families, our public works teams that keep neighborhoods clean, and our infrastructure that helps connect us to each other.”

No matter how difficult the budget decisions become, public safety and the core services Pittsburgh residents depend on every day must remain a priority.
